I replaced my ball joints on my Dana 30 but dropped one on the ground and didn’t inspect it before installing it. Was only knee high. But upon installing, noticed the top threads are damaged, any way I can tap and dye these to correct it? No idea thread count. Thinking 1-7/8 24 count, but could be wrong.

You may be able to use a thread restoration tool. The one shown below has 8 different thread pitch/sizes, it is used to straighten & cut existing threads on a fastener.

If you don't have a thread guage, get one! Not expensive and you don't need Starrett for this although those are very nice. The thread files will likely work but there are two SAE versions with different threads on both so you still need to know which to get.
