I let the guy who painted it get the colors, but I think they color matched it off the glove box door. As far as the white grille goes, I personally think it’s too white. I am having the grill wrapped in vinyl with some logos on it to promote my honey company. If you are going for the exact color scheme, than yes get it painted the correct white color. I do love the Indian Ceramic though, as it is a very unique color.

If its too white, what do you think about a cream color instead?

A cream or off white color would be way better in my opinion. The pure white may be what it was from the factory, but to me it makes the Jeep look more like a Barbie doll theme. The chrome bumpers were not in good shape so I went back with the original style front and rear bumper which did wonders to make the Jeep look a little more rugged. I’m going with black wheels and a black soft top to bring it all together.

I think I'm gonna go with a cream grille and wheels. I want to make a roll cage with the same profile as the original safari style top and put a top that's a similar red.

What'd you do with the tux bumper? I'm sure someone would pay good money for one, even not in good shape

I sold it to a member on here. It needed some work, but he was happy to have it.

It’s exactly as you stated, it’s a vinyl sticker basically. It’s stuck on there pretty good. I hope it holds up also. I’m not going to be driving the Jeep every day so I hope that helps with the longevity. I know it’s not for everybody but I’ve been planning this as a driving advertisement for my honey business for awhile thus the graphics. Beside this artistic change it’s pretty much bone stock except for the BDS springs and the 11 inch brake upgrade for the front wheels. It’s going to be Indian ceramic with black accents and the original chrome pieces. It will have a black top with black wheels to finish it out. I’m getting close to the end (knock on wood) so I’m super motivated to finish it up. It’s been almost 3 years since I tore it apart. Wish me luck !!!!

Got some more parts and pieces installed. I also have the wheels at the sand blaster and have a paint guy lined up to paint them. My brother was owed a favor from someone in this line of work so I think it’s going to be a freebie. Most freebies don’t work out for me but hey I’ll give it a try. I also have my new tires ordered. They are Maxiss radial buckshot mudders. Want a old school look so these fit the bill. It’s a 30 inch tire so a little bigger than what I had. I also repaired and painted my steering wheel. Installed glove box that I reinforced along the bottom and got the gas tank and fuel line installed. Painted decal on tailgate.

Looking good! Are your taillights original or reproductions? Where did you get the carpet?

The tail lights are original. They were in dang good shape so I polished them up and put them back on. I don’t have any carpet. It’s rolled on Rustoleum bed liner.

I’m close to the end my friends. Just finishing up installing small parts and pieces. I also got the Jeep started after sitting for three years. I had some hiccups like a clogged fuel line from pump to carb ( dirt dauber wasp) and no fire to the plugs (my points were corroded) but after clearing this up she fired right up. The sound of that little 4 banger made me smile. We adjusted the carb a little and set the idle and she is as smooth as when it came off the showroom floor. I also got my wheels back from being painted and was able to Mount my. We tires on them and they look fantastic. I went with the radial buckshot mud tires. I did have two issues arise after I got the Jeep running. I have a small leak of oil from the bell housing hole. Appears to be gear oil from the tranny. I had the transmission gone through by a reputable mechanic as it really was in good shape so it didn’t need to be rebuilt, but he took it all apart and cleaned it up and I installed it. I also am having a problem with my throw out bearing. When I depress the clutch pedal it squeals. It’s a brand new American made bearing with a new clutch, pressure plate. I’m hoping both problems resolve them selves but I know I’m not being realistic. If I have to remove the transmission to repair these problems I will but wowza I really don’t want to do that. The Jeep is on Jack stands so I ran it through all the gears and also engaged the hubs and ran it in 4 wheel drive. It shifted great snd everything ran as it’s suppose to. The only thing I have to do is bleed the brakes and I’ll be able to drive it. My last big project is to install a black soft top.

I forgot to say I also had to get my radiator rebuilt. It started leaking when I installed it and really started leaking when I started it. Got a new core put in.
