The various oil leaks help protect the undercarriage and body from rust. The fuel leaks keeps the tank from exploding from too much fuel building up pressure, so it is a safety feature, so long as you don't light a match.

The black cap should be an Eaton cap, same as the AC cap used on MB/GPW Jeeps. Originally, the Tuxes came with a chrome version of the Eaton cap.
I’ve used the stainless Stant cap on my Willy Wagon, and mine isn’t vented. It would “whoosh” as I opened the cap after bouncing around down the road. How it never pulled a vacuum while driving, maybe it has a one-way check valve?

Finding the chromed original gas cap for a Tuxedo Park has eluded me for 7 years now.
May just have to get the black one from Walck’s and have it chromed. I bought a NOS vented gas cap off eBay a few years back, but doesn’t have the same shape as the Tux one with the raised button.

I got tired of seeing and smelling gas on a hillside. I have a tank out of a 71 1cj under my seat and the stock 73 tank in the rear. I run non vented caps on both. I have both tanks run to a expansion tank mounted behind the drivers rear tire. Made this from one of the fatter portable propane bottles. Make darn sure it is 100% empty before working on it. Lets gas in the tanks expand and not spill also vents back in. This has worked great for me for a few years. I hated putting 10 gallons in the front tank and spilling a gallon or more.
