I don’t know about BFC, but I’m interested. I’ve got the pan off for the timing chain already.

Optical illusion and even so it would not affect timing as the timing is controlled by the points or magnetic pickup of the distributor.

Buildflycrash, you're terrifying me with my freshly rebuilt 225. I'm afraid to start the thing, it looks so pretty and clean in the engine bay. I'll get to it by summer though, I promise.

    Yes please.
I managed to ignore the jeep this afternoon. Went for a nice long bike ride.

You’ll be fine. Like I said, I picked mine up from the dirt in a front yard.

Drove to Long Beach and planned to have some drinks to warm up but there ended up being a Jeep parade so I turned around and went to Waffle hut and had coffee instead. :n:

    Yea....that kind of Jeep parade.

Somewhere on the way home, something let go. I feel like it's more than just a leaking pinion seal. On the flip side, the 3b is now self undercoating to prevent further rusting. (y)

After driving around this weekend, I'm leaning towards keeping the 3b how it is (mostly) and buying another 3b to build. Eventually, I'll get another fhead to retire the one I have.

Can I suggest that you get your driveshaft loop forward. That way if the front spider grenades , on your drives to our beloved Waffle House , it will keep you from doin' an endover into the poor ' jeep parade' yuffies .

The transmission cross-member sits far enough back to catch it. (y) Honestly, the whole rear driveshaft loop deal is bogus IMO. Almost every time the joint or ubolts have exploded the other half of the driveshaft ended up flying off too. I should have painted the driveshaft a high vis color to make locating it easier.

Oh and a few weeks ago it finally developed death wobble (25-35 mph). The wobbly front left wheel, long shackles, and wore out frame shackle bushing make the perfect death wobble recipe. If I had made the spring hangers longer in the front I wouldn't have had to use such long shackles. Oops. (one of the mistakes I mentioned earlier)

Anyone else ever notice that the only place the old jeep bodies never rusted was directly over the pinion and transfer case seals., :D.

It’s coming apart. I’m going to pull it and look deeper inside.

I've always intended on replacing these "motor mounts" since 2011 with the motor swap but nothing really worked well with my snow plow brackets, Ross steering, mechanical fuel pump, and so on. Fortunately my motor isn't much of a shaker but during the fall ride with @oldtime riding shotgun it was apparent they had cracked and the motor was moving around too much allowing the fan to hit the shroud.

the new doughnuts are a nice cheap common item so I bought an extra for the glove box. I couldn't do this before the TBI swap.

    Engine is out.

    Heads are off
    [IMG]

A couple of the water passages under the head were blocked. Would have overheated. This freeze plug was weeping so we scraped it out to make it a real leak!

The heads will go out to machine shop in the next couple days.

Is the screen supposed to have a flap that springs shut?

From some metal somewhere. ? Did you find anything in the pan or sump ? Looks pretty good from afar , though, especially for $100.
Oh .......There is no " flapper " , AFAIK

Good example of an even fire crank with the offset journals.

Oven cleaner, brush, garden hose, compressed air and lots of WD40.

New rings and bearings should arrive next week. I used scotchbright pad to clean a couple of these pistons already.

Been fighting a hesitation problem for the longest time and finally threw a guage on the fuel pressure regulator. It was only running 2.5 psi! I bumped it up to 5 psi and took the Jeep around the block and now she hauls ***! I’m gonna do a little more driving to confirm but I think that was all it was!

The braided hose can have different inner liner layer to handle ethanol flavors of fuel. Also offers some protection from rodent teeth and goats.

    I hate goats.:dhorse:

Good Catch........ I have to run 43 psi & up to 53 in Boost. I Have to monitor my in cab gauge , as I drive .....Just like oil , voltage, & Temp. If the FP drops , I need to shut down quick or its HG replacement time. I really didn't want a ' Race' CJ , but the engine was designed to do both.
    I've been learning a lot.......:)
