    Hello,
Does anyone have a line on current stock for a wide V6 radiator? The core on my old one is 22"*17". I find tons of listings for the narrorer model but nobody shows anything in stock for my size. Lots of "out of stock" listings in the $200-$300 range. I'm trying to avoid the $600+ options. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ken

If your upper and lower tanks are good, have it re-cored with a 3-row core. That's what I did. It was $300, but that was 10+ years ago.
    Install a fan shroud, also.
    From my build thread...

Taking that route, I expect the hardest part will be finding a shop that will recore. I know of only one in Eastern Massachusetts.

Champion radiators makes a 3 row aluminum radiator for around 300 buck. You can order them from Champion directly and parts dude also sells them.

    That's the narrower 17" radiator.

It seems like the 22" Champion radiators are out of stock everywhere. That doesn't leave many alternatives.

I had to wait a few months last spring for Sam to get them back in stock.

Looks like KW might have them in stock?

    but they are over $500

that’s probably why they still have them ?

It looks like 55/56 Chevy V* radiators are really close to the right size with the inlet/outlet in the right place:
With the mounting they have, it might be as simple as some L-brackets to mount it to the Jeep cowl. Not sure about hose sizes you may need to do some digging at the autoparts store to find some with the right shape that fit both ends.

So the guys getting units from Partsdude aren't the later model - sorry for confusion.
Their description is misleading, as it includes the '71 model year.

Gee - timing is everything. When I had mine re-cored, there were several places that performed that type of work. From what Tim says, it must be a lost art now.

There's a lot fewer radiator shops out there than there usedto be...most newer car radiators aren't repairable. However, they still exist- look for places that deal with big trucks & heavy equipment. Personally I'd rather have a properly repaired stock radiator vs an aluminum replacement.

Thanks for the replies. Radiator work around here isn't cheap... Would cost more than a new aluminum unit. I called Champion, they said they should have stock late this month or early next month. I'll probably wait for that.

Aren’t the early 6o’s (65,66) Mustang radiators a good replacement. Used to be a lot of talk of guys using them in our cjs.

Talked our old, local radiator guy a few months back when I needed a new one for my GMC. He says a recore job runs around 600 bucks now and he hardly does it anymore since replacements are half the cost. Only dedicated restoration guys are willing to pay for the job he said.

Here in East L.A. there are still several radiator shop that do this type of work. They are all targeting the big truck and heavy equipment market. With in 3 or 4 miles of my shop are alot of repair shops for big trucks in general, radiators are one type of shop. I have had forklift radiators repaired recored before.

Just a follow up for anyone interested, Champion's radiator is now on indefinite backorder. I found a local shop willing to do a recore of mine for $325 so I'm going that route. They are estimating a week for them to get a core and do the work so hopefully that holds.
