Any issue with running 12.5 inch wide tires on 8.5 inch rims?

I really like the look of the Raceline 946G 7X Rims but they only come in 8.5 inch wide.... I'm looking at the Fuel M/T's... 33 / 12.5 / 17

I need the 17 inch rims for the Wilwood Disc upgrade!!! And I need the stopping power due to the Holley Sniper EFI upgrade!! (I'll post some info about all of the upgrades soon...)

    Thnx

Sounds good to me....I ran 33x12.5 on 15x8 rims on my cj7 for many years. I liked having a rim on the narrow side to help protect the rim from rock rash and I think it protects the bead a bit more. I currently run 33x10.5 on 15x8.5 rims on the cj5, and I wish the rims were a bit more narrow for the 10.5" wide tire.

We have 35 12.5 BFG AT’s on my kid’s Jimmy. They are mounted on 17x9 American Racing rims which is the most common width for 12.5” tires in the 17” diameter for whatever reason. 15x10 and 16x10 even 18x10 are common but its’ 17x9 for whatever reason. Long way around to say the 8.5” will be fine…
