Yeah, I've heard about things like that. Someone even saw a little train that was powered by a jeep engine

Not to my knowledge. However over a year later and a lot of wd40/pb blaster/ATF into the cylinders and it still doesn’t move

Picked up a Dana 44 and 27 with 3.73s from another member over the weekend. As I understand it, with the f head and this gearing my Jeep will be a dog. If I'm just using it for cruising should I upgrade gears or will I be fine?

in no way are 3.73 gears even remotely close to a good ratio for an F head, it's not got a lot of power behind it, and will most definitely be a dog. i think acceleration would be the worst part, as you're putting a lot less torque to the wheels than an F head jeep would've with factory gearing. you could try it, but i feel that it would make things a bit wierd.

What ratio would you recommend? I'll be using it to cruise around mostly and maybe some light off roading.

that was an available option from the factory, and an overdrive would really help.

What frame paint have people gone with? I've seen plenty of people swear by POR15, some people swear against it, Eastwood's chassis paint seems pretty good. How much would I need to cover the frame?

I used POR 15 after sandblasting, and while it worked well, I made a couple of mistakes that I regret. If you blast to bare metal, you definitely want to clean very very well and apply their metal prep under the paint. Make absolutely sure there is no grease anywhere. Then - read the directions very carefully and DON'T SHAKE THE CAN! Stir it. I ended up with runs/bubbles in lots of places that I had to sand off. Second - make sure to put down a tarp under your frame or you will be peeling concrete off your garage floor. You can easily do a frame and lots of other parts with a gallon. If I had to do it again I would 100% have sprayed it not brushed it.
