My choice came down to about the same $ for the propane setup (I used gotpropane and have nothing but good things to say about those guys) or full gas setup (epump, electrical, fpr, tank, lines, inline gauge, sender, etc). I liked the propane idea since the vehicle wasn't often used, and again, I just like alternative fuel stuff anyway - so looking for an excuse to convert something. In many ways gas is more practical for general use. I certainly prefer carbs over EFI, and it'd likely be simpler to implement.

I wouldn't over think this or expand your scope when you don't need to. That can lead to an avalanche effect, and a Jeep you never get to drive.

Also to answer your question above, I didn't have much to go on when I converted it other than general info. Nothing FHead specific.

I am pretty much in the middle of this right now except using an OBD2 engine from a '97 dodge dakota. I didnt go with the Novak kit but went with a simple adapter plate and a throw out bearing/slave cylinder combo. Due to the two ears on the side of a T90 clutch engagement becomes interesting to work around and package in that area.
But now at least I know where I can get a clutch disk if something happens, I didnt know Crown sold a larger disk clutch with the right spline/OD input shaft.

yes, I dont think theres much of a difference between the frame engine mount location, transmission, transmission location and depending on year pedal assembly.
as far as I know the transmission housings are pretty much all the same

Right, but you have to deal with much lower hood. I’m wondering about fitment since it may change my plans for my Dad’s build.

I didnt have any issues. I bolted it all together, bolted the transmission to the factory mount, tilted the engine back about 5* and made motor mounts from that. I dont have to clearance my hood, the body rod to grill fits, you do need an electric fan as the water pump is in a different location so cant use a viscus fan.
I dont know what type of air horn a YJ uses but a TJ/Dakota one will not work on a 2A but it might work on the taller hood CJ

I am keeping everything needed to run the engine plus the factory electric fan. as for the wiring, I have both a TJ and Dakota wiring harness diagram from the ChryCO shop manual. Its not done yet so lots of cleaning up left. I am not too good at this stuff so its a lot of double checking, but hoping to have a factory looking thing when all done.

the vehicle you're using the engine from, get its shop service manual or its electrical diagram. If you're using OBD2, there are some relays and fuses that you have to keep.

Mine I got as far as remounting the tub to check clearances and it needs to come off again to make some final adjustments. Then re mount for final check then off for paint. Body work is done. But been busy with work and summer house projects. It's turned into a fall winter project when the weather turns
