    Hello,
I'm sure I'm going to get yelled at for not trying the search function but I tired to no avail.
Does anyone have photos of a CJ5 with 225/75r15 tires? I'm looking at a set of Toyo Open Country AT in either 225/75 or 235/75 on stock 15x4.5" rims. I'm leaning towards the 225 to try and keep it narrower but I don't know if that would be a too small tire overall. Tire calculator says the difference in diameter is about 3/4" but I don't know what that looks like in real life.
The Jeep in question has a 225 with 3.73 gears so I don't think top end speed would be an issue. It's stock height.
    Thanks,
    Ken

I am running 235/75 - 15's on my CJ6. Here is a pic from the side. Stock height, don't remember the width of the wheel.

    I also have a 225 but 4.11 gears. It's a snappy little jeep.

Thanks for the photo, looks great! Is your steering limited by tires hitting the springs?

A little bit, I had to adjust the stops, but really doesn't effect how I use the Jeep. It's a street Jeep at this point in it's life. The 225's would be narrower.

235/75-15 tires are a conservative choice for a CJ5, kind of my base-line for a stock looking Jeep. The 235/75-15 is the same size as an L or LR/78-15 in the old tire size. The 225/75-15 is same as an H/78-15 which was the stock tire size of mid-late '60s CJs.
Either of these tire sizes work well on either 5 1/2" or 6" stock rims.

Here’s a few pics of my 1966 cj5a with stock 15” steel rims (has the Tux full hubcaps) and Toyo M-55’s. The tire size is 235 7515. No issues for ride, performance or steering. Like Donny mentions, this tire size is perfect to retain the stock look and handling as the original Jeep was set up.

I ran 235/75-15's on my 3B for a couple of decades. As JW, I had to adjust the stops a little to keep them off the springs and frame.

My stops appear to be spot welded. Is that normal?

Pretty typical. Mine were welded fairly solidly. I ended up cutting the welds and getting new bolts.

I run 225-75-15 on stock wheels on my ‘66. No steering rub with all stock suspension. If you have to change the steering stops they often have only one spot weld blob holding the stop nut to the axle housing. If you can find that weld it grinds off quickly so you can change or reset the bolt.
