If we restrict this conversation to just Jeeps that actually run, since obtaining my driver's license in 1959 I have only been without one for 3 years during college when there weren't any extra funds for much anything. A dirt bike got me through that hiatus. The 3B and the CJ 5 have been with me an aggregate of 102 years now-----

    Funny you should say that.

In the "no funds" category, my 'college' vehicle was a totally clapped-out '56 CJ5, which I drove year round in NH... with no top.

This sounds like a personal problem to me. There is a trail ride coming up in the PNW.....

Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Get in it and drive sometimes, regardless.

We'll have some ID Panhandle rides coming up this summer, I'm sure. I'll keep you notified if you want to join in.

If we keep you busy washing and waxing, you'll be too preoccupied to quit. :)

Hmmm. You are wise grasshopper. I have learned something new today and it's 38 minutes into "today." Now to be able to put it into practice.

Most of that 3 years I was driving a 1960 Rambler station wagon. You didn't want to stomp any mud off your shoes/boots in that car unless you were prepared to meet the road. I bought it for $40, drove it 2 1/2 years and scrapped it. Some of it lives on. The 450 cfm 4150 resides on 225 in the CJ5 and the turn signal indicator lens' are in the 3B dash.

Ya know just cause you have one doesn't mean you can't have the other....I'll never get rid of my CJ, but this is my 420 HP 6 speed "commuter car" :D
Makes the drive to work much more tolerable!

When I sold (parted out) my '84 CJ7 in the late 90s, I knew I'd own another CJ...someday. I had already owned 3 others before that! I kept all my service manuals and literature. A growing family was taking priority.
After I found my '71 RII in 2006, I was content to buy it. I kept looking for another CJ to make sure I had the 'right' one. By 2008, I was sure this CJ5 was the one I would modify and mechanically restore.
It's small and easy to keep. I might get a classic muscle car (like a '68 Roadrunner) someday, but no plans to part with the Jeep. I encourage you to keep the Jeep, unless absolutely sure you won't miss it!
Seller remorse is a bad experience. Don't go there.

I'm a little late to this conversation but I want to make a statement about the above quote.
There is Absolutely no such thing as a midlife crisis, it is getting back to your former life when your children so rudely interrupted it with their birth.(y) Now depending on what you want to do, you may be to old to physically to do what you want but thats a different story. Owning a specific car in no way says anything about my age. or is anything about a crisis.

I love my Challenger and will probably never get rid of it!!

I'm not quite sure when mid-life crisis starts~ I may be there at 66. I just know the classic cars I do have keep me motivated~ my mind thinking cause something is always going awry with one or another. A new car is nice cause you don't have to do anything but drive it, wash it. I just don't know about having a good looking fast car cause I beat or meet most fast cars to the stop signs or stop lights. I don't speed as there is no reason to. I'm retired and really in no hurry to get anywhere quickly. I can't imagine not having a project car or project at this time in my life~ it'd be like giving up and may as well put me in an assisted living center, so I refuse to get "old" right now, subject to change year after year at my discretion;)

I've seen a few Chargers with the 3.6L V6... Any feedback on that motor? I want a V8... Right?

My only thought is that I have gotten out of JEEPS several times, only to keep searching for another just because it's habit. Maybe you need another one that needs love.....That would keep your interest up.....

It's in your blood. You always return. Let the Charger have it's day, and still keep on JEEPIN .

Finally realized I would never finish my M38A1 Project. A friend called me after I told him years ago if he ever wanted to sell his M38A1, I would buy it.
He called and sold me the two he had restored. Now I have Jeeps I can drive.

I love to drive them and finally tinker on them instead of rebuilding them.

I will put up a story with pics when I get time. Just got them home and in the garage.

    Its a really good motor.

but is it the right motor for a challenger?

Honestly, after driving my sister in law's 392 charger, I think I'd be disappointed with anything less.

Same with my friend's SS Camaro. I just wish I could see what was happening outside of that car.

My mom had two (don’t ask) challengers with the v6’s. They’re very peppy cars for sure, and produce pretty respectable mPG’s. If I recall they produce right around 300hp. That said I think I would strongly regret not getting a v8.

I've got 9 cars and I love driving them all. Some are fast, some slow, some carry weight, some don't. Highest miles is the 1987 Saab turbo. Lowest miles is 2019 Duramax work truck. Fastest is my turbo Subaru 0-60 in just over 4 seconds.

The Jeep's get driven enough and are a hobby that keeps me sane. Dirt bikes have taken some of the Jeep time away but in the end I will always love and cherish my Jeep's.
