I'm installing a V8 and doing a frame stretch on a an Early short wheelbase CJ5. I've found a CJ7 hood and I'm still looking for a CJ7 grille to make it easier to fit a larger radiator. I'll be doing a coil spring conversion and pushing the front axle forward with Fabbed tubular fenders. Any advice will be gladly accepted. I'm in Nor Cal between Sac and Reno.

CJ-7 front clip is the same as the CJ-5 from the same years, AFAIK.

I realize that. I'm going from early 1956 CJ5 front clip to intermediate 72-86 CJ5-6-7 for the extra 3 " of under hood room.

Hi Rodney, great question. I’m building a 1/1o scale early CJ5 and have a CJ7 hood on order (it’s in the mail from Shapeway). I don’t have an answer for you, and I would like to know the answer!

Also, I’m in El Dorado County and building a flat fender.

There were two different thickness grills for the CJ.
I only found out when I picked up a replacement and my fenders didn't fit anymore.

The one on the left is an 84 grill, the one on the right is a 76 grill.

Might not be important starting from scratch like you are doing but if you need an extra 1/2"...
