Finally notched out my bumper for the sway bar and took the Jeep for a mixed highway/off-road drive.
    I love it!!!
The body roll is still present as if there was no sway bar, but it is slow and controlled. Zero instant body roll, it just builds slowly throughout a long turn. In a roundabout interchange body roll is not noticeable.
Ride quality is much improved over the stock type sway bar. A single tire hitting a pot hole no longer transfers shock to the opposing tire.
I cannot wait to run this on the Rubicon!

I put a new throttle cable in my ‘75. Thursday I was driving up the hill to my place and then “CLUNK!!!”... my foot goes right to the floor. :censored: It was still running as well as it does so I figured it was just the throttle cable. Low range/first gear made for a slow idling rest of the way home. Only had to wait a couple days for it, but a 1990 Wrangler cable was a perfect fit for me!

I am still awaiting my rear mount tank so I rigged up a temporary tank to drive to a buddy’s place about a mile away. Works great, but needs a vent.

Was given a ‘71 cj5 than has a SM465 mated to the Dana 18 and no motor. I scored a free boat on Craigslist that needed too much work make seaworthy. The 4.3 mercruiser was in great shape. Here’s the first start.

Ha! Brakes, cooling and steering. Then lockers and gears and THEN tires. My goal is to be ready by summer. Naturally aspirated so I’ll probably need a winch to make it through the really steep stuff. But I’m always willing to brake stuff on the trail :)

Did the post rebuilt 1000 mile fluid change on the CJ. Transmission, T-case and rear axle. I also changed the engine oil even though that didn't receive a rebuild but was pretty sludgy so I'm doing some short interval changes on the engine to get it cleaned out.

Not on the Jeep but the wife got a screw in her tire last night so after she got home from work I busted the tire off the wheel and patched it up.

If it has 3 oil galleys plugged on the back of the block it should also have 4 bolt mains.
Those are the best production 4.3 blocks since you can rev higher longer without it starving the mains.
    Don't give the motor away.
The quadrajet is pretty good for offcamber stuff it's just more involved to tune. (I gave up and went TBI)

Yes it’s a 4 bolt. And it has the larger sbc oil pump. Not a lot of info on the old marine 4.3s. But from what I understand it has a little cam, and is rated for prolonged operation @ 5,600 rpm. Should be pretty good for sand.
I have a tbi 4.3 I plan on putting in a flat fender at some point. I’ll probably leave the carb on this one.

Don't order, doesn't fit. At some year the machining and rear cap were changed. This seal will not fit earlier blocks. Catalog listings are incorrect from some vendors.

    Over the last two weeks.
Installed a set of Big Willys body/rock guards for some protection.
Getting older, big rocks are harder to see.....especially passenger side.
Installed for fit, then removed for powder coat, then reinstalled.
These came out good and fit this old old body very well.

Cool! As long as it is a non balance shaft engine you can do all the front dress as a 350. Take a look at the intake runners at the intake gasket. Is there a bulge or is it a flat roof to the runner? Also check if the intake bolts are vertical or perpendicular to the head. That will determine what is needed for vortec heads or if you already have them. The heads are the choke point on these engines.

I agree keep the 4bolt with a Carburetor. Whenever it needs a rebuild it would be cool to see a 3/4 oddfire 383, hefty cam, vortec heads, light pistons and rods.
Most everything on the marine engine blocks are supposed to be the same as the target master 350s.

The production 4.3s were built in two different factories with a bunch of running changes with differences in cranks pistons and rods so you must treat each engine as unique.

Mine was out of a G10 van with the typical 4500 rpm max with the std heavy pistons and economy minded camshaft.
I've got some lighter pistons and a mild towing cam. the machine shop, and balance shop are confident it will hold a 5500rpm max and the oil thru my drivers side galley is the limit.

I haven't forgotten about the little Fhead project. The ol' F2B needed a rebuild and there were a dozen other blocks waiting in line before my junk.

I made one pass at 3.145 just to see what'd happen. Of course, there was a fair amount of pitting left in the cylinder so I set the bit to 3.152 and let 'er eat. Still some dark spots up at the top but that'll clean up when I hone. I reckon I'll knock .020 (or more) off the deck. This isn't some kind of typhoon build neither; we're using real numbers. ;):D

I've been spending most of my free time on these 351M heads. They'll pay for the Fhead rebuild kit when they're done.

I just found a 15 Gallon New in the Box Dorman fuel tank on Facebook Marketplace for $50.00 when I got it home I realized it has the small 1" filler neck. Should I use it as is, or punch out the hole and solder in a larger neck?

Almost windshield down weather. Broke out the sewing machine and made a quick easy tie down.

Looks great! I'm envious of guys that can sew.

BTW, there's a guy on YouTube named Foresty Forest who lives in a van. He recently sold his minivan and bought a full size van. He's been building it out and he has a sewing machine in the van. He pulled it out and made insulated window coverings. Anyway, carry on.
