I've been researching this as well as a way to make moving the Jeeps around the garage easier for storage. Right now I use a floor jack under one axle at a time and shove it around but it's not easy lol.

HF has a few options supposedly the grey diamond plate models are pretty sturdy with the smooth black ones being apt to fold up at the wheel attachments. THose are the two cheap options there. I plan on getting the diamond plate models which are around 90 dollars of two pairs. They also carry a model that you slide under the tires and step on a pedal a few times and it "scoops" up the tire.

I have had a Larin Brand set for nearly 20 years - Harbor Freight are very similar

I looked at the HF diamond. I was leaning towards them. Think I will get those. Thanks for sharing.

I just checked the HF website and the diamond plate ones aren't available for online order. You have to pick them up in store. I have a local one here about 10 minutes away. I just got paid so might jump in the XJ here shortly and run in and see if they have any. Last time I was in there they didn't but did have some of the black ones.

I may try the black ones and see what happens. I'm not too worried about them with the CJ but the XJ weighs about a half ton more than the CJ.

I've heard of a few folks that have tried their 18x12 wooden dollies and had luck with them on cars and smaller trucks. For 10 dollars each it may be worth a shot but a set of 4 puts you almost halfway to the cost of the black metal ones.

I like this guy's idea. He added another caster to the center span for extra support. Ok after seeing what some folks have moved with the wooden dollies I'm going to give them a shot and see what happens. Maybe buy some extra casters while I"m there and modify like this.

I got these as they were the cheapest on Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised to see how heavy duty thy are- they handle a jeep with absolutely no sign of strain.

I've used these for years on my Jeep and Porsches...

They work great just as they are. I wouldn't put my 8300 lbs truck on them. I must have 20 of them around the shop. I bought them when they were on sale. I gave them as business Christmas gifts to my clients one year with my card clear epoxied in one of the wood side frame...

For me the "stored" Jeep would be on them till it rolled back over to be taken off then the other Jeep would be placed on them and put in the "stored" position in the garage. If I stop using them in that way then I'll take them and sell them or toss them. I hate stuff cluttering up the garage.

The HF ones are still under the M38A1. No problems or complaints. I think they have the diamond plate, but I'm not sure anymore.

How hard would it be to weld up a set from box tubing and put on some casters?

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this hairbrained idea. I was literally thinking about this today. I like the idea of the extra casters, but sort of negates the cost savings quite a bit.

Yeah when I did the math it was getting close once you added the extra casters. I wound up only adding casters to the set I was going to use on the front wheels. That had me saving about 40 dollars I think over 2 sets of the Black HF models. Not a huge savings but enough to put gas in my XJ almost twice right now.
