Well, it has taken me about 6 months to Get to my first trial drive with this build.... I had to wait for over a month to get the new brake system done and all the air bled out of the new master cylinder, all new steel lines and flex lines and wheel cylinders...... so today I took 'Her'..... 'Grandma'...... on her first road trip around the ranch.......... She steers steady, shifts smoothly, the 4X4 works as it should....... and the engine runs smooth and starts easily.............the suspension is real nice on the rough, boulder strewn creek bed..... and all the lights work.... brakes work well..... Now ready to register 'Her' as a 1928 Chevrolet Capital truck (have title & vin plate for that) I hope the public enjoys seeing Her on the road, as much as I do....... It was a pleasure to build it and will be fun to use it...... Enjoy

Your truck came out great! My buddies and I have discussed it a few times now as a fun project to copy. I love the classic looks, but yet 4x4. Great job! I hope you get lots of enjoyment out of it.

i hate when people restore something classic, then put it on display, never to start up again. yes, it's an old piece of history, but if you don't use it you should pass it along to someone who will. i'm not saying you are this way, i'm just spouting off. well done.

Yes, this truck will be used as our daily use Farm truck.... we grow 90% of what er eat.... have a herd of dairy goats for our cheeses, yogurt, meat and chickens for eggs.... green houses and a big garden.... so the truck will haul hay, stones, firewood and be used to sell out of the back at the local farmer's market............ we are 18 miles from the small town, and our driveway is 18 miles of rough dirt road.....
so a 4x4 truck is needed...... but I love the vintage (1920's-1930's trucks for their look...... but more modern running gear.... for work, safety and accessible parts........ this will be a daily driver, working Farm truck..... that I can repair myself..... I am glad you are enjoying it too...... 123" wheelbase........ Does anyone out there know of a place to buy stronger rear springs that might carry 3/4 ton.... that would bolt right on to the 1969 CJ5 shackles...?

Modern running gear? Didn’t you use an antique Jeep for running gear? (y)

Thanks jeeper50.... that sight is just what I was looking for.... and I think 1/2 ton spring load would be smarter for me to put on this Jeep axels, bearings and chassis...... they are not designed to handle 3/4 of a ton of weight. I dont know if any of you have driven a 1928 car or truck... but I have owned and driven many of them over the years..... theyd dont hydraulic brakes... and the 1929 chevy truck has exterior fabric bands that squeeze the OUTside of a steel drum.... when it is wet... you have NO brakes....... and steering is poor, horse power was 30 HP compared to the Dauntless 150HP..... the 1969 Jeep mechanics is such an improvement..... you would think you are drivind a spacecraft from the future compared to the 1920's vehicles.........:D
