As the title will suggest I have decided to dive head first into something obscure, odd, and difficult for no more of a vailed reason, than why we went to the moon.. "To be first"
I spent a great deal of time finding this question asked a few times and a few people that seemingly decided to than stopped posting on the subject and some really good info on here. So i figured Id give back and add to this subject and maybe even squeeze some more knowledge out of some of you guys on here!
Ive thought long and hard about the engine and the trans, the combo and how it would be way easier to do about 5 other things, but Im not gonna do those.

    What I have so far:
The donor engine out of an 89 yj- For free
The M38A1 that I picked up for -500 bucks
The custom made pilot busing -20 bucks
An S-10 bell-housing from a 2.8 *she bolts right up -For Free
    and a G9N Adapter- 300ish bucks

-Im still trying to figure out my Clutch *whether I can use my t90 clutch disc with the 2.5 clutch housing or if I need to buy an after market Clutch disc
    -Clutch linkage
-the minimum wiring I can get away with on the renix 2.5
    -Motor mounts!! lol

Ill post updates as I go along and will also try to make some videos on my progress
If you guys have any input/experience/ thoughts on the subject, id great appreciate any help!

So I took the tube off, which is going to need a lot of work with the floor
    willys-2-0
    willys-2-0
So, it almost seems like Jeep thought some one may do this because minus the bell housing everything from the exhaust, steering, oil pan clearance all seems to line up perfect! Should be a really easy Glad I got some time today to work on it!

A viewer of the pics should note there are no motor mounts and the engine is sitting lower than I like at the moment. but it will sit higher once mounts have been burned in.

I think this swap is gonna be awesome!

I thought had some notes about clutch disk. Lemme see what I had.

People poopoo the AMC150 but they remember em in a Jeep that probably curbs out 1000-1500 lbs more than our early CJ5s which will shed over 100lbs by swapping.

Oh and increase usable HP by about 100%

The AMC 150 should be a good candidate for a swap. Which transmission are you using? You show the SM420 swap link, but is that the transmission you are using?

Ok, G9N is the Novak number for a T-90 adapter, using the existing T-90 main drive gear. Adapting the Chevrolet & GM Standard Shift Bellhousings to the Jeep T90 Transmission Looks like you are using the M38A1 T-90. Doh, it's right there in the title.

Supposedly the Renix stuff works well. The main issue is no OBDs available. Possible you could go Megasquirt with the Renix pieces, if you can't get them to work stand-alone.

Found my notes. I have this written down:

    9-1/4 x 15/16-10spline - Novak 921977

I'm assuming that last bit is the Novak part #. I kinda remember wanting to use a normal 2.5 pressure plate and that disk with a custom pilot. Then potentially a combination of adjustable stuff to work with the stock earlyCJ5 clutch linkage. I wanted to change as little as possible other than the engine itself. I'd love to even fab engine brackets that use the stock mounts.

    Hope I helped! GL

I liked other little fitment stuff too like compatibility with the eCJ radiator and grill, steering, brakes, passenger side starter, etc. I just think this swap will have a nice package to it and boost the power without requiring any re-architecting.

Another inherit benefit is longevity under use. The FHead isn’t a fragile motor but it’s certainly not known to go 250-300k between rebuilds like the AMC inlines.

Youre a legend! I was planning on reusing the clutch off the AMC and mocked it up with the smaller clutch disc off the F head and thought id work, for now * I can be a very cheap person lol.
The Mega Squirt wasnt even an idea either, I was going to try and strip the wiring harness to bare bones or swap it to a carb *which I dont like the idea of that, but it may save me many headaches!
I had actually found some of your other posts on here! on this idea and Youve already helped me a lot! haha

    Couple things.

My steering interfered with the stock FHead pump

I didn’t have a real fuel system anyway (outboard tank in the back), and getting all the real stuff wasn’t cheap

The Jeep was mostly a plow rig, and you “never” have to clean the propane “carb” no matter how long it sits

Propane was way cheaper than gas when I did it

I like alternative fuel fiddling anyway

I like the setup, but my FHead was clapped out when I did it. The AMC150 will be a much nicer engine for it.

The 84-86 intake will have a carb flange on it, and should bolt to any of the 150 heads.

I’d gas carb it if you’re all set up for a nice gas setup or stick with the efi plan. Personally I prefer carbs.

My 57 had no fuel system at all, so propane wasn’t a horrible choice.

I’m in northern WI and it started fine for plowing. I never started it when it was really cold though (to me that is -20+)

Im not really set up for much, I got the engine and have an Renix ecm for it. havent tried running it yet, she runs though and have a few wire diagrams saved for a minium wire setup to get her going. so havent crossed that bridge yet, but naturally I wouldnt mind a carb setup souly for the simplecity but may save that for a plan B if I brick my brain trying to figure out the wiring. BUT a Propane setup sounds nice if I can dodge a 800$+ kit bill
