Well, I’ve been working on a 14x40 lean-to addition to the shop. I got the rafter brackets made and attached to the shop, the 6x6 posts dug, set in concrete and cut/notched to height, and after pricing out the rest of the project, we’re in sticker shock. It’ll cost nearly $2k for the rafters, joists and metal roofing. Building supply prices are just insane right now. This is going to have to wait till next year. I’m going to move the table saws over so there’s room to pull this in the shop for the winter. It’s not all bad, since it’ll be easy to work on.

Meanwhile, since it’s forecast to snow tomorrow and have single-digit lows this weekend, winterizing the RV became a priority. I did end up using compressed air. I hooked it into the “city water” port. I regulated it down to 10psi.

I then pumped RV antifreeze through the tank bypass. This worked for the cold circuits, but I couldn’t figure out how to fill the hot circuits without wasting x gallons filling the hot water heater.

I ended up rigging a section of inner tube (left over from the varg’s tailgate chain covers) between the sink faucet and a gallon jug of antifreeze. I squeezed it until pink came out of the other hot circuits.

I was frantically getting all the water out of the backpack/ATV weed sprayers and wands for the same reason last night.

Usually there is a bypass at the hot water heater so you don't have to fill the heater....should be a drawer to pull out or door to get to hot water heater

Probably is, now that you mention that. There are handwritten instructions in marker inside the water heater door, but they’re very unclear. It mentioned something about under the sink; I was in too much of a hurry to pull drawers out and look.

    ingenious method!
Mine has valves to control water in and out of the tank.
When they're both closed you open a 3rd valve that allows water to bypass the tank.
I can winterize mine with less than a gallon of the anti freeze.
Hard to explain, but works great!

well you got it done (y)
my little camper trailer had a water heater by pass set up . got to it under bed
speaking of water heater . you need to pull pipe plug (anode rod attached)
I also installed the winterizing fitting before 12V pump . made it really simple to do
yep small trailer only took a gallon

I had to move my table saw island (with the 14 years-worth of junk under it) out of the way to fit the RV in the shop. Not fun. At all.

I turned my workbenches 90° which gave me room to fit the island back by the stove. I still have room to rip a 4x8 sheet of plywood, but nothing longer.

    And it fit!

Just in time, too. It was just starting to snow when I pulled it in.
    7” incoming.

I’m gonna have to go out and shake our bushes soon before they snap. That’s a heavy snow!

Nice, that's great you can fit it in your shop!

We got 9 inches of snow on Tuesday, and my RV and boat are going into storage tomorrow. I didn't get that timed very good this year!

On our trip to Glacier, I used the pole to reach up and pull the awning down, and the sun-bleached strap ripped. Why not add some jeep flair? :sneak:

Cleaning awnings is about my least-favorite RV chore. No way to do that that doesn't involve getting drenched in the cleaner.

A stopped by Best Buy and grabbed a 19” TV, and then Harbor Freight for a swivel mount. Total cost, $100.

It tucks in *almost* flush with the other cabinets.

It took some magic to get these junky cabinets to support it. :ninja:

Nah, the dang kids can look out the windows when we’re moving! Otherwise we’ll be hooked up or have the generator.
