I'm ready to install new axle bearing kits in a 1971 d-44 flanged rear diff. I bought dana bearing kits to do this job.

I wanted to pull the cone and cup apart so as to pack the bearings but for some reason I can not get them to separate so I can pack the cone. Any thoughts?

If they aren't sealed, you can use a needle adapter on your grease gun. It'll be able to get grease into the rollers. Ron

The cone is bonded on somehow on a new bearing. I drilled the housing for a grease fitting and grease them there.

They will separate after installation and use.
I have used a shop rag.
Liberally apply grease to the open side.
Pulling tightly on the shop rag from both ends, use the shop rag to force the grease into the bearing.
Continue working it around until till it's packed.
