I relocated my tank to the rear on my 62 CJ5 and now think I don't have the space for the muffler. Any idea/suggestion about how to proceed from the wise ones that had done this mod before? Thanks!

If you are using the stock one, it fits nicely behind the the transfer case along the driver's frame rail. I had to move it too when I put the 3 point hitch in the farm jeep.

How about under the driver's seat, where the tank used to be?

This is how I did mine, between tcase & rear gas tank. Then over the axle & out at the drivers rear corner.

Thanks! Did you use the stock parts with some modifications or new pipes had to be procured?

I ran duallys, mufflers amidships, tailpipes routed outside the frame all the way back.

Here's the factory routing with a V6. Muffler behind the transfer case and exit behind the left rear tire.

I used all the stock components. The tail pipe could be a little better, but it works fine for what I do with the farm jeep. I can take some pictures later today.

I asked because mine is all shot, so before I start buying parts I wanted to know.

You could probably buy all of the stock/original type parts and then modify them to fit with everything that you have access to.

On my '71 F-head, I ran it pretty much as pictured above using the Omix kit. I just cut the long piece and put the muffler between the skidplate and axle. I have aftermarket seat brackets, so I used one of those bolts for a hanger strap on the front of the muffler, another strap at the rear of the muffler, and one more for the tail piece. Instead of going over the axle and turning towards the passenger side, it can twist and turn out towards the license plate. I added a tail peice to go past the license plate, but I have kiddo's and didn't want to chance killing some brain cells.
