I've had my share of problems. Oil line Fire, the worst(all burnt wiring repaired except fuel gauge wires),727, pan leaks,(mopar gasket fixed),belt alignment(pressed WP threaded flange fix),stock air cleaner to Holley DP HO 750 carb(1/2in adpt fix), dialing in the big cam and carb to work with the mild(1800 stall, 2100rpm flash converter), carb benn off 20 times for changes, it finally got time for some short test rides!
Drove several 4-5 mile slow(3500rpm max) test, returned for adjustments. My 10 year old son(I'm 62), loves off road, was with me yesterday, and on several other test. Almost home he said, it just don't run like it did when it was in the car dad. Now it's still choked down with only 2in cherry bomb style pipes, and the single valve springs still on(I have triples to install,4500 max untill), we left the last stop sign turning right,1/4 mile from home, I laid into it hard, Lit the rear tires up for just couple seconds, tact hit 5k before I could get out of it, he grinned ear to ear, said now that's what I benn missing.
Springs going in soon, then going to muffler shop to uncork, I think I'll be happy.

There is an AMX sitting at a shop near me and I was dreaming of a hot 401 in it as I drove by.. My wife keeps telling me to stop and see if it's for sale..

Buy it! The 401 in my 3000lb gremlin was Explosive @ 2500rpm.
Showed many a blue oval and bowtie my tail lights!
And with the t10, it was the funnest car I've ever driven.
It would light at wilI the 325/50s I had on rear!
It was actually hard to launch without spin!
Most drags I started a length behind, caught them by 3rd and passed!
Got accused of having NOS so many times,
Wore the hood hinges out, showing them An old jeep engine, on the motor, beat them!
Only hot AMC in my local area.
They called me Rambler Boy @ the speed shop!
I did get beat some, but that didn't bother me!
But when the other guys got beat by a Rambler (gremlin) it burnt them up!
Damn, those were the Good ole days!
Times have changed, no one even cruises anymore!
All we have now is a sat night cruise in, in Rural King pkg lot.
I'm 62, and still look forward to the un planned red light challeng at random!
My personalized plates off gremlin, strapped to my tail gate, read, U-LUZ

And, me, I kinda always wanted a hornet! So many jokes bout ,where's my trunk!
Had lots of good times in my Amcs, didn't bother me that others thought I was
    Bottom of barrell !
Kinda crazy how I ended up with my first car, new 74 gremlin x, 304, auto.
In 75 it was a leftover, heavily discounted, loaded, PS, AC, x pkg, factory wheeles ,
Floor shift, 2 tone buckets, red with gold hockey stick stripes!
3000$ out the door I think! At a time when a low end gremlin was close to 2400$
I was a good kid(kinda), father promised me a car at 16, if I kept A-B average in school.
He was a bargon hunter though! Looked all over town, came home and we talked,
My choices were a , all new year old cars, Vega, 4speed,4cyl, Duster 6cyl auto, or gremlin 304 v8, all I heard was v8, that's the only reason I started life in a Rambler.
Only guy in town buying speed parts for an, AMC.

    Test after spring install!
I put a 5400 pill in the shift light, son and I headed to county line and back(1/2mile straight).
Turned around at crossroads, an hammered it, away we go, starts pulling HARD bout 2500,
Took it to 5000, shifted to 2nd, nice little chirp of tires, took it to 90mph, hit 3rd and let out.
Slowed to 60mph,hammered it again, snap, lost throttle, coasted to nearest pull off.
Cable poped off ball stud on Holley, replaced and drove home.
More fine tuning to carb, small hesitation when accelerating from cruise to speed up.
Pulls better off idle than I expected, but it don't explode @3000rpm like it used too.
Think it's the choked down 2in exhaust .

Repaired cable end. Went up from 71s to72s in front.
    31 to 35 squirt.
    No more flat spot!
Close enough till exhaust work done, have to retune then!
PS-for an 82, this thing handles surprisingly well!
With 235/70/15 street tires, it corners great.
Only mods are RC 2in springs and new shocks.
And I rebuilt the front steering wear joints including a new box.

    Where's the video?
I'd drive 500HP. Probably don't need to own anything like that. I'd have to use it.

Still. working out bugs, viedo to come.
And yes I'll drive it as my daily driver!
When engine was in car it got drove daily, unless rain or snow.
Now it'll get driven in rain and snow(can't wait).
In high range, 4wd, hubs locked, on farm in grassy field,
Even with this power, it Hooks surprisingly well!
    With only 235/70/15 street tires.
Now in 2wd, it's a total different truck, won't hardly move at all!

Benn using for farm work some, dragging logs, hauling wood pulling trailer.
Works surprisingly well down low under 2grand. Couple short road trips, all seems well.
Small drips to fix, trans shift cable, can't seem to get adjusted just right, but close.
    Hadn't benn over 5800rpm yet,going to 6500 later,but comes on Hard above 3000.
    Love my new toy.
