    DOH!

I moved all my stuff from my service provider webspace to a dedicated server a while back, if I can remember how to get in there I'll put in some re-directs.

    H.

Don't know how much help this will be but maybe you can get the general idea and figure out some of the dimensions. I would make the uprights about 4 inches shorter.4" locking casters and the D rings for transporting .
    Had about $200 in material and sold for $300 when I was done with my project. chris and jo 002.jpg DSC00220 (1).JPG DSC00221 (1).JPG DSC00222 (1).JPG DSC00223 (1).JPG DSC00224 (1).JPG DSC00225 (1).JPG

This thread, along with a desire to pair my engine to the rest of the drivetrain (transmission and transfer case have been built for a year+, new clutch parts as of last month), caused me to spend some shop time today building an engine storage type cradle.

I'm hoping that the end result is a drivetrain that I can wheel into place when ready, but in the meantime i can move it around.

Once the engine is off the stand, I can start building side one of my rotisserie!

    Thanks @Focker and @mike starck!

Interesting to note that for the 40' of 1.75x1.75" square tube the two steel shops in Reno want $120. Steel is expensive in 2020!

I'm going to see if I can scrounge up the other items and follow those plans.

Mike are you saying to shorten more than the 3D model suggested height of 38"?

Dne made hers based on mine in my '63 build thread - I've also got diagrams in Sketchup if you want. More pics in my album she asked for as well.

Let me know and I'll see if I can find a place to put them so folks can get them.

I’d love to look at your plans.

I actually got turned around on 80 today because it closed due to a big rig rollover, so I didn’t end up buying material yet. I would be happy to host the stuff on Dropbox for people.

Hey there if you look at “starting on my 71 build” a fellow Canadians build, you will see my 2x4 wood ghetto whirly jig and his metal engine stand/ drill pipe joobby a bit more professional looking. Good luck

Post up a link to the Dropbox and I'll put it on there. I did some customization beyond the diagram based on the metal I had laying around to build it with.

People can PM me with their email and I'll mail the file to them as well.

I would have to do some research on what the original Tommy B plan was.If you look at my pics you can see that it is to tall with a lot of room at bottom. I'm 6'3" and working with it tipped on it;s side the top was a reach. mike

Gee, why did I not see this post , yes, Chuck  gave me ideas and of course we usually go off on our own ideas, taking a little here n there and come up with ideas to beat the almighty dollar~ meaning doing something cool for the least amount of money :blah:  I don't know how much I have into it, doesn't matter, beats buying a rotisserie from Summit or Jegs, and those weigh an aweful lot for our little jeep tubs.

I'm sure I had as much fun in making the rotisserie as with any fabrication~ it's just fun to make stuff! Besides, the rotisserie is an awesome thing! you can roll it around, spin your tub(granted it's balanced right), and when painting, omg, spin it where it's easiest to paint.

I made mine out of two Harbor freight engine stands. The pipe/s are difficult to find where it spins on at steel stores as you usually can't just buy a few feet, that's probably the main reason I bought the HF stands. I used every piece of metal that they came with. the stands lean back a bit and we can't have that. I cut with my large DeWalt metal cutter(like a chop saw) just below the base of the pipe, and the same at the bottom. Of course there was a trip to the local steel store and I did have some left over steel. I wanted it to be universal to work with the frame as well. So two jigs have to made for each. But while you're making stuff, think about what else you may want to fabricate so you won't be wasting trips to the steel store.

I bought two of these with coupons

I suppose a big problem would be is a means to get it on the rotisserie~ I have a maxjax lift and I think everyone should have one that's into projects or just working on cars/jeeps/trucks/lawn tractors, etc.

When I wasn't using it, I used a short piece of stock to roll both pieces together as a unit, when totally done, I'll repaint them and hang on the wall. The casters I bought from Amazon (where else)

I wanted no interference so I mounted the bar to the 4 eyelets under the body.

I kind of messed up on the attachments for the frame as it wouldn't spin all the way around, but wasn't totally necessary; still worked just fine.

Like I don't have better things to do, out of some leftover stock made an engine stand which will probably never be used again. but eh~ just another fun thing to do.

Then made a stand for general use and to move the tub around easily until I got to it~

If any of what I did here helps and you need measurements, I'm here, well, I'm actually here at my computer, not there
