I'm about to start on the brakes section of my rebuild and I have a few questions. I'm converting to disks in the front while keeping the 9" in the back. I bought a dual reservoir mc as suggested here in several posts. I will be keeping it on the frame. Now, I have an original bracket as a loaner to duplicate it but I do not see how to fit it without removing the metal plate where the original mc goes. Is that normal or am I doing it wrong? I don't mind modifying the frame as long as it is needed but I hate doing stuff that are not needed.

I had to remove mine on a ‘58 cj5. I also had to modify the bracket because the brake pedal was hitting it. After installing this MC I ended up going with a wilwood MC for other clearance issues. 88E46746-DA31-46C0-B4A7-65EB5C05ADE9.jpeg 747B3539-4EBA-466C-9C57-1D7F5D3A22D1.jpeg

My original cylinder mount bracket had to come out for the new cylinder and bracket to fit, and I confirmed this with Herm as well. It looked like it might make it but it wouldn’t square up with the new bracket and Herm said the bell housing would likely hit.

Did you have to roll the frame flange up to make the new master cylinder fit with the new bracket? I am planning to do the same thing, but use 11" front brakes.

For what I paid for my MC and the price of a Wilwood, I think a little inconvenience to refill the reservoir every once in a while is ok. :D
