As you may well know, I bought a slightly crusty cj5 with no engine and a Meyers hard top. I have some big plans for this jeep. :sneak: Body isn’t terrible and I’ll be picking up a parts 1970 cj5 with a v6 that ran when parked to put in this one. The parts jeep also has a Meyers too that I can rob parts off to fix it as well.

First order of business is to swap out the wheels and tires. Three wheels are junk and the left rear doesn't spin.

Is this the "Farm Jeep" listed in your signature or another Jeep? Either way looks good. I'll be following your build.

Nope, that's this one. I Can't Leave Well Enough Alone

Its solid enough for what I want to do. The top has rust and the floor is pretty bad.

I saw these super swampers on facebook for real cheap money back several months ago. I got them for my friend who was going to build a jeep, but he never paid me. Sucks for him! They were on newer jeep wheels, but I had these old steelies kicking around. So I mounted them up for something to roll the jeep around on.

Got the tires on it today and freed up the one stuck brake. Also got it of 4wd. The rear may have an LSD in it. I didn't take the cover off, but it has two rusty tags on it. Its amazing how good the tires made it look!

Next issue is the bent steering and leaf spring. I'll get a lift kit and upgrade the steering next.

The guy that pulled out of of the woods liked to use a skid steer with forks. Probably put a fork where it shouldn't have been.

The windshield glass fell out on the ride home, the door glass is rolled down and two of the back windows are missing.

That bend is definitely not fresh. I cant imagine the spring bending enough to push the tie rod back that far without causing some kind of frame damage.......

I imagine a severe impact to the front wheel would be the mechanism of injury to that spring. One hell of a pot-hole, at speed?

    Don't ask how I know.

I appropriated this windshield frame today. Will it work with the Meyers hardtop? I’d like to use it.

Looks great. The tires are sharp. Love them on any CJ, young or old.

I dragged this crustacean out of the woods today. :D

    Its the remnants of a 1970 CJ5.

But at least it has a complete v6 in it! It also has a bunch of good parts for my hard top.

I picked up this free T18. Of course there was this crusty junk truck attached to it, but whatever. Rust just seems to find me. Seeing how this is a Ford version, the input shaft is correct. I am debating whether to put the T18 in or stick with the T14 from the beat '70. Decisions, decisions....

I'm trying to build this thing as cheap as possible using what I have, the adapter to put a D18 behind it is 500 some odd dollars from Novak, but I feel like it would be so worth it.

Nate: Is that T-18 for use with a "divorced" transfer case?
