    Hi everyone

So yesterday I spent some hours removing a few of PO mods on the 57. I also looked for traces of the original factory paint color.

I guess that light sand paper would help better to discover what is under the yellowish paint.

Here is what I find so far. Any thoughts?

The jeep has been all repainted. (I promise I remove those anti fog front lights tomorrow :)

All I have to offer is my thoughts to get the ball rolling (no first-hand knowledge or experience) .

That yellow is like a 1956 Arena Yellow. And secondly, it's hard to make even a helpful guess regarding the blue areas you show. What paint is under the screwed-on data plate? ---or are there better areas to find original color?

    Some color chart/chips on the following link>>>About Willys Vehicles - CJ-5, 6

    Hi Dave
Current yellow paint is PO paint job. Usually you can find traces of the original paint color inside the toolbox, under the dash of behind the data plates. So far this is what I found. Behind the data plates there is no color. Just unpainted with some surface rust.
Perhaps someone else could give some hint about the original color based on my findings so far.
    Regards

Get a mirror and look under the top of the toolbox or just put your phone in there and take a picture. I've that to be the most reliable indicator of original paint as nobody can get paint up there and can't remove the original paint either.

That being said, the color you are finding isn't far off from the '56 "Pine Tint" color that was offered on the Willys trucks.

I've got a 1958-up color chip page (Martin Senor) and those few light-ish blue examples look like they could be Cerulean Blue, but that is shown to be a '59 color and is not a metallic color. I had a '56 years ago that was a light slate blue metallic that was likely the same as yours, but I never knew the color name.
Sorry, my books don't go back that far. Nice looking jeep, even a venting windshield!

Use a mirror or take a pic of the back of the dash.

Hi guys, I appreciate all your input to help me find the original color. I am still unclear. I did take pictures of the top of the toolbox. Nothing. I went to under the dash and I can only see light spray of that same blueish color. The color looks more blue than Pine Tint as suggested by durangotang above. I will look at the chips for that Cerulean Blue. I am quite certain about production date based on serial numbers list and early 1957 is what I've got (besides that is the original invoice issue date!)

Keep suggestions coming. I'd love to understand what color it was. Thank you

Not able to identify your color by the sample photos you've supplied, but here is more "kicking it around"!

Here is suppose to be a 1957 with a color not seen by me in any '57 Willys color chart/chips. >>>1957 Willy's Jeep 4 Cylinder Manual 3915 Miles 4 Wheel Drive 100% Original CJ5

Nothing saying it is original paint. They say, Green--I see blue/green (maybe it was green--as on the unfaded inner toolbox lid.)

On my computer screen I see your picture (copy below) like an Empire Blue Metallic (color chip below)--but, of course, the wrong time frame.
