OK, I won't take up any more of Craigs thread, but Dallas, awesome~ ooooo, it's going to be a little toasty there, but at least you'll have days and nights(better for your circadium rhythem) and be able to play outside just about anytime!;)

Back surgery complete, doing well, at least in Dallas I won't have a lot of snow and ice to walk in.

Mike's carbuertor parts is a good source for that Rochester and he has videos if you havent' rebuilt a cab in awhile: Welcome to Mike's Carburetor Parts - Your Number 1 Carburetor Parts Store
I found a brand new carb at a Good Guys car show last year for $150 - there are several variations out there but Mike has jets so you can get it tuned so it runs well.
The guys on this site have been a real assett to me in the 3 years I've been rebuilding my 66 CJ5 - a wealth of knowledge in those files.

It looks like that transmission is a T90 out of a CJ2A based on the curvature of the shifter. You would have to get an adapter to mate it to your v6 bellhousing but it is doable. Overdrive is a plus

Hoping to make some progress on this over the next week or two. I went ahead and ordered a brand new alt bracket from oldbuickparts.com. I need to order a set of plug wires asap.

I am about to start working on the fuel system. I have a brand new tank to mount just need to figure out what size line to buy and if I have a functional fuel pump and filter.

Tentative plan is that the jeep will at least run by memorial day!

Wasillishack I hope everything goes well for you. Many good posts here. That being said, MY restoration process is in order of importance, get it running, get it stopping (please do not ask me about that), get the steering sorted out, (please do not ask me about that), and then do whatever needs doing at your leisure. Definitely do not toss the hardtop, if it is not usefull to you it will be usefull to someone else. It seems you have a great start, do not get discouraged these vehicles are not complicated and a pleasure to work on.

Yep, mount the alternator and carefully align the belt. You may need bushing spacers/washer on both sides.

With all that adjustment latitude of the new bracket, I'd scrap the Motorola alternator and go with a Delco 10SI. Possible the repop bracket is intentionally wide to accommodate the Delco without modification.

Just started following this thread. Looks like a nice JEEP. Glad you're keeping it around. My '71 was originally the same color. Wish I'd have kept it that way.

I'd keep that spare trans/trans case/OD around. Once you get 'er moving and have a chance to drive it around, you may find you want to usr the OD at least. Maybe check your axle tags for a gear ratio. Should be 3.73 or 4.27. I doubt you'd want or need the OD with 3.73 unless you're planning highway speeds. But, as you go along, your uses for the JEEP may change and plans along with it. The OD is a good find regardless.

Most everything is done with the engine. Fuel system is all new 5/16 hardline with a Mr gasket pump. I am ready to start building a complete new wire harness when all the supplies show up.

I need throttle return springs and would really like to find the correct parts or at least a good photo of how they are oriented. Also need some plug wire looms.

Swapping transfer cases may be necessary sooner rather than later. When I was installing the new fuel pump, I noticed a broken mount tab on the case where it attaches to the crossmember.

Is this twin stick transfer case stock or what is going on here?

The drivers seat mount needs some work as I can't even get in.

looks like its been converted from single stick to dual...a pretty common modification. Your seats are out of a car of some kind and are too thick...you need something thinner.

I have a couple junk yards to search for some seats. I think I can lower the driver seat a couple inches if need be.

Your valve covers are on the wrong sides. We just explored this issue on another thread (Dauntless Valve Cover Question). Also, you could probably source factory seats rather easily. They are good seats and are comfortable. From the factory, the 67' CJ5 Dauntless came with a T-86 transmission and the transfer case had a single stick shifter (The Novak Guide to the Borg-Warner T86 Transmission). You will also need a fan shroud. They are available as a repop (fan shroud and Partsdude4x4 or could be this one Fan shroud). Do you have the original oil bath air cleaner? If not, you may want to place a WTB post in the classifieds. I love the color of your Jeep.

You might check with bostonbob, (a member here) he's down in Delta CO and might have some seats for sale.
