In the dim recesses of where my memory used to be, I think we've discussed this here before. Tried searching?

And just this week was a thread on the M38 style dash-mount rack.

I did do a search and found a thread but the photos had been removed and links to various products were no longer functioning. It was an old thread from 2015 I believe. The m38 thread I didn’t see.

My dad has a good one...it holds the rifle vertically just to the right of the shifter. There's a piece that bolts to the floor that the butt of the rifle sits in, and a little spring loaded thingie that attaches to the grab bar on the dash to hold the barrel. Everything is plastic coated (like a tool handle) to prevent damage to the gun.

My Jeep has one between the seats. It was a ranch Jeep so no legal issues. I still have it somewhere. I can post a pic or two if you want.

Are your mounts old horseshoes? Any issues with clearance from the 2-stick? I also can’t make out what you did on the base for the buttstock, thanks for pointing me that direction. Another great idea

These type clamps were in my m-715, and could be adapted.

Some Jeeps came with a factory gun mount, but mine only accepts a 106mm anti-tank rifle...

I like the clamps, might not be to hard to fab up something like that. Mounting in that location for me wouldn’t work due to the full cage, but I’m digging the idea. Thanks. And I’m liking the eye candy, the M1A and the A2.

No its a NOS gun mount I bought off ebay. My other jeep just has a piece of 3" PVC pipe between the seats that I slide the barrel in. Cheap and works great.

This is what I have and it works great. You definitely don’t want your rifle buried in the back somewhere when you see the moose/bear/caribou/ptarmigan or whatever.

These are the ones still in use today and are very easy to find, I have a pair in my CUCV Blazer right behind the drivers seat. CUCV Pickups had them on both sides behind the bench seat.

You can do better on a price but this is whats needed: Nice thing is the mount is covered in a plastic material so it won't scratch your weapon up...base is not but could be plasti dipped.

Petel No way I could get my fat *** in or out of a Willys with a rifle mounted in the way it is in that photo. I'm not sure when I was a skinny 18 year old driving my jeep to high school I could have gotten in an out of it like that.

Agreed. I totally thought the exact same thing, and I'm still skinny (although less limber). BUT others have used a similar mount on the passenger side, or near the mid-line, which might be more tolerable.

Personally, I'd go for a horizontal mount at the top of the dash, or a low slant between the seats. Better when the W/s is down to not have rifle barrels catching tree limbs.

Bottom line is, Jeeps are small vehicles.

I have one of these mounted right behind and between the seats, and lean the top toward the back. It lets the long rifles stay under the top. I’ll post a pic if I can fund one.

I keep looking for a better way. It is secure but takes a while get them out. Rugged Gear Floor Mounted Double Gun Rack
