Isn't that latch to hold the hood open? Doesn't that catch the tall loop on the front of the hood, when the hood is open? Here is a picture of my neighbors C J 5, you can see the windshield rest on his hood, for when it is laid down.[IMG]

    Yes it is...

This was addressed in previous posts a few times.

He said he did not have the hood catch lock so I provided an NOS source

It's not exactly NOS but I found this in my pile of parts. Going to see if I can get it freed up and working.

I think those hooks are cooler than the other side of the pillow. But the fact is, in 50 years I've never once used it, or felt the need to.

Save those bolts holding the catch to the frame, and especially save that mirror and mounting bracket! Those are both original and hard to find.

Cool, good to hear they are original. I'm thinking I'll put that mirror on my M38A1.

It looks like the mirror is salvageable. Just needs cleaning and paint. Donny, is there an official location to mount the mirror? Not sure if the location pictured is usual or correct. Thanks!

    Just foolish, I guess.

I've played with them, but the adjustment was touchy. And releasing it every time was a pain.

I've wanted a latch to hold up my hood, but I never found one, so just started using my w/s hold down strap to hold up my hood.
    Almost never use it tho.
