Looking for some assistance on naming this color on my 1970 CJ5. Some have said spruce tip green ?? I have seen a few color charts and from what I have seen of those, it looks lighter than that. Looking for help, thinking about painting this year, once done with a few other mechanical issues. Thanks in advance.

Definitely not spruce tip. Doesn’t look like Empire blue either. Looks more like a solid color not metallic

    Empire blue?
I'm not home to check my Jeep color books. Is this a metallic?

It’s either empire blue or island blue. Is it metallic?

 Looks to me the engine and body have the same color. Is it chalky or change when wet?

No metallic at all. It's under the dark green everywhere on the jeep. Grill, tailgate, fenders.

The jeep was built in Jan. 1970. Is it possible it's a 69 color?

Don't know, but that's well into the 1970 model year. They usually started converting on the line in late August from what I understand.

I will buff out a small spot later, but pretty sure there is no metallic flake.

I think that is the same color my 71 was originally. Jeep color #477 from the sticker on the firewall.

This photo is from the mid 80s.

I would have guessed metallic from the pictures. The chalky weathering could be hiding the flake.

My dad's 69 is that color.....I'd offer to get the paint code off it the next time I'm up at his place but I don't know when that will be :(

My thought also. Faded out Spruce Tip Green doesn't necessarily look metallic either, just mentioning this as a comparison. Plus the fact both listed blues are metallic just about answers the question. :)

Is your sticker visible with the battery installed?

FWIW the chart doesn't list Island Blue for '69. It would be cool to find out what the sticker says. Both of those blues would be tough to distinguish the difference in the color chart without the names and numbers listed.

Yep. This was in reply to Doug about his father's '69 though. I agree with Island Blue myself.
