Fuel Pump Vacuum In Vs Out Ports Function

I’ve searched and read around but haven’t seen info regarding the in vs out ports on the vacuum part of the fuel pumps. Seems there are ports labeled in and out. I have seen one pump which seems to indicate the “in” port is meant for wipers which makes sense as I understand they operate via suction?

On my F134 I have plumbed the “out” line (which I feel air blowing out of when engine is running) to the brass T fitting which continues on with the PCV valve line to the diaphragm below the carb.
Is this correct? I’ve not been able to find any info specifically stating “in” or “out” port for PCV/vacuum vs wiper system.

Photo above shows an example of what I’m curious about. (Not my actual pump- mine only has a line off the “out” port whereas this photo has the opposite.)
