I'm excited to be building my little 225. I will be using Tarry's Blueprint 225 as a guide. That is such a great thread. Nothing exciting here, but I will try to post some progress as I go. I wanted to get some new tires for Farm Jeep Willy this year but looks like I will be spending that at the machine shop instead.

Did all those parts passing through motivate you a bit Frank?

They did! They encouraged me to do the rear main seal, then all of a sudden I am rebuilding the engine! Yet another fine example of “while I’m at it....” run amok.

Well, I'm excited about my engine getting it's machine work squared away. Now I get to assemble it. I really enjoy this part. It's my antithesis to bodywork. Resized_20200401_154316_355836116684362(2).jpeg

I started earlier and it got warmer. I didn't stop even to take off my hoodie. Ana came out to help and never put her coat on. She's never cold. Lol

Tomorrow morning, push Jeep out, clean up, clean grease prints off engine and paint it. It's all together, oil in and primed. Picked oil up immediately, drill got hard in about 3 seconds. Hopefully by tomorrow night it'll be in.

I painted it the same color as Farm Jeep Willy. I had it in urethane so it was an easy decision. Resized_20200404_112618.jpeg

I followed Tarry's advice in his Blueprint 225 build thread/documentary. I really recommend that thread for anyone doing one of these Buick engines. The only things different is I didn't use adjustable pushrods. My oil pan is pitted so I didn't do any pan mods, but I will when I find a new pan. I bought a 5/8 oil sump from TA performance as well, so the new sump seems plenty strong without mods, due to the bigger tube. Feels very rigid. Take your time and make sure of all your measurements. Torque everything and check it twice. I make a mark with a sharpie next to all my bolts once tightened for the final time because if I don't, I check things 3 or 4 times from worry.
