Move this if necessary as i don't want to hijack this thread. Looking to paint the bottom of the tub and frame/suspension. I have a small amount of surface rust here and there and i am not ready to do a full tub off or frame/suspension rebuild. Just want to stop whats going on with the rust and prevent more. Thinking ahead i don't want to create headaches if I do a full rebuild later on. Lastly this will probably be in my driveway using rattle cans. (I know not the best but it what i got to work with) Mainly just want to keep things in check with the rust.

The chassis will not get as much UV as the body and my main concern would be water. I'm in the processes of touching up my axles and frame w/o disassembly so what I'm doing is addressing sections at a time. Wire brush and scraper, rinse with water, blow dry with air. I'm using the tall cans of Rustolium satin, semi or gloss black. Seems to hold up well with just this level of prep. At this point I no longer put a lot of effort into making the chassis look real nice but I do mask off things and use cardboard to block overspray so I can get a decent result.

I've used the Eastwood Rust Encapsulator paint and not been impressed. It's supposed to be comparable to POR-15. No experience with their other products.

Has anyone had experience with KBS rust seal and coating. Seems to be somewhat popular on some of the old car restore blogs.
they also make engine paint in period colors.

Just an FYI, if you do choose to use urethane vs oil a simple paint mask may not be enough, the chemicals in urethanes are highly toxic, I don’t think most people are aware of this.

I like spraying the 2 part Epoxy primer over the sandblasted frame and top coating it Chasis Paint.
I will be trying the Fluid Film. I think that will be a great combination.

I use cheap black paint and two annual applications of fluid film one spring one fall seems to keep the rust at bay.

Yeah you'll need a filtering face mask, like an N-95 or an N-100. Don't confuse those for a simple dust mask that offers zero respiratory protection.

N95 is a particulate mask. That won’t help against vapors, or the damage from isocyanates.

It’s the isocyanates that are what I am most concerned with inhaling!

They will kill you. Its in the hardener. I learned all I needed to know about dying from them at "Olympic Tool and Engineering" in Shelton WA about 20 years ago...
The only sure way to be safe is external air supply with a fitted full mask and Tyveks. If you do it for an occupation, testing is a good idea...

Basically make sure you use a good half mask with a rated organic vapor cartridge and you should be ok... This stuff is not safe though, so keep the hazards and weigh the risks accordingly.
