i finally got my power steering hoses for my Saginaw swap. I filled up the pump tank, started it, and no power assist. So I gave it some gas and saw the pressure hose go from limp to pressurized, then the return hose blew where the metal tubing hits the rubber rose (the little factory clamp failed).
    Thoughts?
I have time to ponder while I clean up the huge mess.

Thanks for reply. That’s what I kinda thought but the specs on my box have the larger port as the pressure port, which is how I have it hooked up.

No expert here, but I would think the larger port would be low pressure, since liquids are incompressible and the flow per unit time, in and out, has to be the same. Assuming higher pressure means higher velocity, which is usual for liquid flow. The out port at low pressure has to be larger ... I would think.

On a normal Saginaw steering box set up, high pressure is the fitting closest to the bumper. On the pump the return line on mine is a soldered on nipple. The pressure side is the thread in fitting.

Figured it out. Mud dobber made a home in my return hose. Reason No. 523 to finish projects quickly and not leave parts laying around.
