I took my 60 cj5 to the shop because of “ all but no” brakes. They tried 2 sets of brake cylinders, neither fit. I ordered a set from Amazon that they said would fit... They didn’t. Apparently these are not factory brakes. My next step is to take the old set to a FLAPS and hope they can match them. I don’t have high expectations.
    Any ideas?
I know there are fronts and rears.

Will be able to send pics of the cylinders Monday but the drums and wheels are on and it is sitting on the ground at the shop.

Rebuild the old cylinders? The seal sizes are standardized. We used to hone them and pop new seals in, but not sure if you can still get kits.

Have the shop measure the diameter of the backing plates- stock CJ would be 9", upgraded in the late 60's to 10", upgraded again in the early 70's to 11". There's also the truck brakes from the 50's up which were 11" but use different parts from the 70's CJ units.

Didn’t try Wallace’s yet. The adjusters are eccentrics.

Looks like the cylinders should have a bore 3/4” rear and 1” for the front and rebuild kits are cheap. If I can’t find cylinders I’ll measure why I have and rebuild them.

(y)(y)I have brakes. :bananatool: I replaced all the wheel cylinders and the 2 rear flexible hoses. I took one of the cylinders apart and had to use a hammer to get the piston out. The “fun” part was that the front brakes aren’t stock and after the 3rd try, the NAPA guy gave me 2 45 degree fittings and that worked. I still have no idea what the fronts came off of.
Next task is to get the brake lights and turn signals working.
Today I’m taking it to get permanent plates. (y)

Ummmm, yes ummm, at 20mph. The shop is really close and followed the wife, so if I ran into anybody, it would be our problem.

My front cylinders are made with the angle at 45 degrees and of course there is a left and a right. Sounds like you're saying the cylinders were straight?

All the cylinders we got were straight and according to the NAPA guy who called Wagner, they changed the cylinders to straight but continued to use the part number of the original ones with the 45.
Makes no sense to me, but that is what he said.

Why do you have two rear flexible hoses? isn't there only one at the center by the carrier? My Jeep only has one in the middle, and hard piped from the middle out to the cylinders, I think? Good Luck.

I upgraded the front 9" to 11". Best braking upgrade I ever did. Simple and quick. Stops straight and quick. Sounds like Lockman may have a pair in post 10.
