Unfamiliar Heater

    4ECA111F-E40C-43F7-8B82-64E2BCD73E09.jpeg Anyone recognize this little heater found up under the dash on the passenger side of my ‘58. Just wanting to know if it’s a common “jeep” application or if it’s a “hey, let’s use this one, it will probably work” application, ha. Thanks!

    Only a guess on my part, but I'd say it's one of many available aftermarket applications......Basically "this will probably work" as you mentioned.

    Likely an aftermarket universal heater. Back in the day, they sold retrofit heaters as a kit, since many cars - especially the lowest priced models - offered a heater as an option. The early CJ-5 and CJ-6 came with a block-off plate on the driver's side of the firewall, when delivered with a heater delete.

    Yes, I have the block-off plate on the driver’s side of both the ‘58 and ‘63. This little heater is supplied from the passenger side and I can’t imagine it putting out much heat, but who knows. I’ll be removing it a probably plumbing it outside the jeep just to test it. If it does happen to work I’ll probably put it into the ‘63 which slreading has the plumbing for the passenger side heater, just bypassed right now. Thanks as usual.

    Thats a common aftermarket heater. They are still available today under a different brand name.

    I used one in my Jeep for a while and it was decent. I got mine out of a combine at the junk yard.
