Mount it where it needs to go for access to the box below or the persons needs that will be in it.......no car show here.........On my hunting jeep mine came out so quickly that I used to take it out if someone needed to get in the back and also as my chair at the camp fire.

The go kart frame is made by Azusa and typically (always) comes in kit form. Looks like yours has been lengthened, which has to be done for any chance a rider older than 7 years old, or so will fit it.

Those particular Honda engines are neat. GC series with an unusual belt driven overhead camshaft (OHC). Most other industrial/residential putt putt engines are OHV with pushrods.

Nice find, someone did a good job on it. There’s a padded seat cover designed for that seat, also made by/for Azusa that will also, oddly, make the seat match your Jeep seats. Kinda pricey though. :)

But the driver's seat moves...

I think I will position it to be even with the driver's seat all the way back...

I still have the feet that the original seat mounted to. The ones that allow the seat to lift out after being raised up. I'm planning to use those for rear seat access and keeping the toolbox useful. Good idea to use it at the campfire...

That's correct... I used to pore over the Go Kart Galaxy catalog when I was a kid... When I saw this one on Craigslist, I figured it would be a good choice since they still sell all the parts...
I ended up putting a Harbor Freight Predator on it and some smaller wheels and tires. The big ones it had were too big... And we have a 1/10th mile dirt oval out in the field...
With the smaller tires and the correct gearing it slides around pretty nicely.

Moving along with stuff... I started to make some cardboard patterns for the trans cover... I realized I needed to know where the transfer case shifters and the boot need to be... [IMG]

This is a JB Custom Fabrication twin stick shifter. Here is both levers to the rear in 4wd high...

And this is 4wd low... The knobs are close to the dash, but I can live with it...

Saturday was an interesting day.... I loaded the jeep and took it out to a little car show. A friend of mine was part of the group hosting the show, and this was the first time they included 4x4's... [IMG]
So I cleaned up mine and went on over and my dad drove his. [IMG]
We parked next to each other and had a good time.[IMG]
My dad had a picture of what we started with for his...

    I just showed up...

    Even the Pupper had fun...
Neither of us have ever put a car in a show before. We enjoyed it. I was really kinda nervous about it, I wasn't sure how it was going to be. We talked with a bunch of people and answered a bunch of questions. It was actually kinda motivating... Hopefully I can keep up some momentum and get this thing rolling soon...
Thanks for checking it out, laters

4in lift in front with a slightly longer HD shackle. Currently 37in Cooper STT Pro tires, originally I ran 40in LTB Super Swampers...

I've had it since 2008, longer than anything else... It hauls, tows (slowly) camps and drives just about daily...

I'm trying to get mine to that point of reliability so I can enjoy it more.. I've had the itch to do a 4-53 swap for a few years on a truck and this one might fit the bill. :sneak:

I did something today.... I've got the passenger seat mounted...

I recycled some troop seat brackets from the M1008 and welded some double sided tabs from RuffStuff on...

With a piece of 1/2in solid rod in the original mounting feet I'll be able to tilt the seat up to get at the tool box... Tomorrow I'll grind some flats on the solid rod so I can lift the seat out without tools...

    Hmmm that's not ideal...

With the drivetrain raised up the shifter needs to be routed differently...

I fired up the torch and made some new bends... The first was to crank it over so it would clear the dash. Then it got a twist and turn... [IMG]

I actually got it be in a really comfortable position on the first try...

The shifter now clears the dash, the transfer case shifters, the steering wheel and my knee. I stabbed a golf ball on there for now... My first 4wd was a 72 K10 and I had a golf ball on the 4 speed in that too... I hate golf, but we have a ton of balls on the property from the former owners... And the dogs love them. Hopefully I can keep making progress on this... Next step is getting the transmission covered up... Thanks for checking it out, laters

Man what a week it's been... I sold the Unimog on Monday... It's been sitting in the driveway not getting loved. I decided to sell it off because it's basically turned into a whole nuther project. I don't have time for it so I put an ad on the Craigslist. A buyer from up by Klamath Falls came down and snatched it up...
Then yesterday we had to put our German Shepherd down. She was a little over 13 years old and sick.
This was from a couple years ago... She will definitely be missed around here.

So this morning I finally made it to the bank and deposited the money from the Unimog sale. I came home and ordered all the parts I need to make the engine run, plus the gears and stuff for the diffs, and the hubs I need for the full float axle housing I have... Hopefully this winter I can keep making headway on this and get it out of the shop this spring...

It was harder to say goodbye to the dog... The Mog funds went to some cool parts I've been wanting... Fuel injection, full float 9in hubs...

Parts are showing up... The only thing I'm waiting on is the fuel injection system and it will be here Thursday...

It's gonna be cool to finally be able to put together this rear axle...

Earlier this month I started on the transmission cover... I made some good progress on the first day I worked on it, but I didn't like the way it was going...

It just wasn't going to turn out right... I cut it apart and did some thinking. I had this all figured out at one time and I couldn't remember what I had planned...

Then I remembered... I needed to start on the part that bolts to the firewall and wraps around the bell housing, that way I could bolt the next part up.

I made the cardboard pieces first then transferred them to metal...

Now I have something to work with...

And throw some ubiquitous captured nuts on the little vertical face to bolt the next part up to...

Then using the latest CAD technology I was able to put together something resembling what I'm trying to build... [IMG]

I added a couple more captured nuts on the backside as well. I really want this cover to fit nice and tight...

I laid out the CAD onto the sheet metal and cut it all out.

I tried to drill holes on the corners of all the openings, but one of the openings was just a little off...

After scoring the lines where I was planning to bend the panel, I put it in the Harbor Freight brake and gave it a couple bends... I wish it turned out to be that easy... What came after that was a ton of head scratching, trimming and tinkering. I was able to get it tacked together and bring it out to the work bench and do the rest of the welding and fitting all the little pieces...
And here it is in position... It turned out pretty good. I don't think I'm going to grind down all the welds, I kinda like the way it looks. There is a couple little tabs I'm going to add, along with a plate to mount the transmission shifter boot. I took the time to clean up the underside and grind down all the edges so that I don't get cut up while I'm working on stuff. The opening on the passenger side will need a cover as well. Then paint and some sound deadening... Thanks for checking it out, laters.
