SuperTop Snap install 1.JPG SuperTop Snap install 2.JPG SuperTop Snap install 3.JPG My Super Top has only velcro wraps above the doors . At 50 + MPH , it tends to come loose & flap . Installed 2) snaps forward toward the windshield on the frame rail. Do not try this at home..... It's been a ' PITA ' ! ( I see that they sell a Tool for 175 Bucks , that would have made my fix easier. I would buy one if I was not as destitute as I feel ! ) Anyway, I'm gaini'n on it .

    Hey Tim & Guys,

What I learned was that when you set the snaps , with the punch provided, you have to make sure that the ' Rivet ' is peened over all the way. I had the top off , set the cap snaps, but the top back on , installed the inside male part & it wouldn't snap down :( ! The female button was hitting the ' Rivet ' part , by a scooch, but it was just enough to get me goin' ! :censored: I was too damned stubborn to take the top back off, so I struggled with finishing the peening with a semi fabricated clamp / press tool that I cobbed together . Took Her out for a Hi way run of 55 MPH.....it held tight by taking the wind pressure off of the velcro alone. So..... It worked

None of you guys are as pigheaded and dumb as I am ..... so when you do it right the first time, it should be the right fix for a frustrating problem.
    Good Luck & God Speed

Added cats so I won’t stink like exhaust having fun in my toy. They don’t affect “feel” hp wise. Goes along with my techy Megasquirted EFI Jeep anyways. jeep cat2.jpg

Last October while hunting in Colorado and idling hours on end. The exhaust smell would give me a headache. Also, anytime me I drive the Jeep any distance my clothes smell like exhaust and bug me. I’m man enough to suck it up, but old enough I don’t want to deal with it, So, I’m doing something about it. Jeep.....never left well enough alone.

What did I do to my Jeep today?
Towed it 300 miles across several mountain passes. We had a great week 4 wheeling in SW Colorado, now back to the grind.

    Edit-a couple of random thoughts.
This was the 12th year that this truck and this Jeep have made the roughly 600 mile round trip from Colorado Springs to the San Juan Mountains. I think the CJ has more towbar miles than driving miles!
Also, this pic was taken at the rest area where the picnic scene from National Lampoons Vacation was filmed....I looked for a hot chick in a Ferrari, but no such luck!

Finally decided to take the windshield frame apart. Got the hinges out...PITA...drivers side lower is the only bad/rusty spot that will need replacing.

Maybe this doesn't count, but I got my earlycj5 sticker in the mail and immediately installed it. (small circle in upper corner of windshield) Delete if this doesn't go in this thread. CAM00506-1.jpg

Ever since I fired off the engine I have been unable to get idle below 1200. I was 99% sure there were no vacuum leaks, sprayed the intake and carb base down with cleaner. No change. Blocked all the ports nada. After some YouTube I was almost certain it was the secondary idle stop on the TA470. I pulled the carb to change the screw ( id like to punch that engineer) to a hex so you can use an allen key. Soon as I pulled the carb, there it was. A port in the back of the manifold under the carb. The rubber cap had deteriorated and it was open. Must have been tucked up where the cleaner didn't hit it. Sigh, Occam's razor strikes again. Now all those unused ports have pipe plugs....
