First question on my Meyers top install.

What type of fastener for the top front on the windshield? Self tapper or does it need a nut?

Second question, can anyone give me proper dimension for the location of the upper door hinge? I have holes already but they look wrong. From what I think I know about hinges, both need to be on the same plane.

You can see where the hinge was on my windshield (wrong?) below you can see where it was on the door (wronger?)

Yes. There is a filler strip for the windshield edge. You can kinda see them here: Jeep Tops - Past and Present - A Partial List

This is the proper hinge. That yellow hinge half is likely for a soft top and you have it mounted upside-down.

Theses small pieces like the hinges and filler strips are often missing from these tops (tops get removed and they are lost?), and in great demand.

1/4"-20 screws in the front edge, IIRC. <later comment - maybe not. Might be self-tappers if it goes into the frame of the windshield. Certainly it's not going to leave the pointy ends of the self-tappers exposed. Been a while since I've installed one of these tops.> There's a ton of 1/4"-20 hardware that goes with these tops. Edges are sealed with butyl caulk (ala Mortite) and there is a self-adhesive foam strip that goes between the top and the body edge. Needs some sealant between the top and the windshield. I thought we had installation instructions posted somewhere?

Here we go - Early CJ5 Meyers Hardtop Installation Instructions I suggest we post these in the tech info at higher resolution, if possible.

What about two lower hinges since my upper is going to be relocated anyway

Lower ones look right. If you relocate the upper hinges to the top of the door, you will need to lengthen the door side of the hinges so the top and bottom pivots are in the same line.

I used 1/4x20 riv-nuts in my windshield frame. The thought was that it’s be easy to go in and out with the hardware whenever the top comes off... now to just take it off... :worry:
