T14 Throwout Bearing Question.

When i tore down my none running 71 v6, t14, d18, I ended up finding a 231 OF.
10.5 diaphragm clutch setup had a roughly 2" overall height throwout bearing.
Mechanical integrity unknown, should I go back together with the same height throwout bearing, or use the one that came with my Valeo clutch kit, which is roughly 1 5/8".
The fsm is hard to follow since I'm not going back with cable, and it doesn't elaborate on different TO bearings.

I bought a Novak hydraulic slave to go back with.

Any insite?

The only way to know for sure is to measure. Novak has a good article about measuring the clutch and bearing in their tech articles section.

 

question . is it the 71 one piece bell housing . if so use the taller bearing

 

The 71 should have one piece bell housing. I changed my clutch last year. The new clutch is a diaphragm type and was shorter than the original Borg&Beck 3 finger. I also needed a new pivot ball and fork, so I solved both issues by installing an adjustable pivot ball. Hays pn 84-116. It worked great once I got it adjusted. I use the Advance adapters chain clutch linkage.

 

Yes, it is a 1 piece bellhousing.
