Would A 2"or 2.5" Bs Fix Rubbing/steering Issues?

I've read a lot on here about guys that go with bigger tires often have rubbing and steering issues.
Since i have accepted the fact that i can't get a taller tire on my 15x6 wheels, I was wondering if a 2 or 2.5" BS on wheels would help alleviate some of these issues that may arise.

I am also looking at a YJ spring conversion from Rocky Road, and it looks like that would move the spring outboard further complicating the rubbing and steering issue.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Justin

How tall a tire do you want? It's the width that's the problem, not the height.

Wheel spacers or less backspacing will reduce rubbing. If you can go to wider wheels, that will reduce the bulge with wider tires and reduce rubbing.

Yes, wider springs will rub more.

Well, from asking on here, having 3.73 gears, I think 33's would be the tops.
The narrowest 33 is a 10.50, that i can find and i think 6" wheels would bulge too much.
    Too many variables!
My vision is stock to 2.5 lift, but stock springs that give a nice ride might be a unicorn.
So, if i have to go with a 2.5" lift, i think a 31 or 33 would work, but not with my stock wheels (15x6).
Then i saw the YJ conversion, and it just goes on............ Hahahahaha!

Rubbing can be a complicated issue. For me the easiest way to stop the rubbing was to install a narrow track Dana 30 from a 77 cj5. This solved several issues at once. I got disk brakes, open knuckles (no more leaking), more parts adaptability and a 2 1/2” wider front track which gave me more tire clearance and a sharper turning radius with no rubbing with a 2 1/2” lift and a 1 piece tie rod setup to go with my power Saginaw steering. I run 8” wide wheels with my 31x10.5 tires.

As already mentioned the disadvantage of 3.73 gears is having a higher (crawl) idle speed. With your 6" rims you should be able to find something equivalent to a 7.50 size in whichever rim you have....15" or 16".

What is the advantage of taller tires if you don't need the effective gearing change, and you don't want a wider footprint? There would be a slight mechanical advantage when rolling over obstacles, but I expect that would not be noticeable. The tire manufacturers could make a 33" tall tire with a section width compatible with 6" rims, but maybe there's no market for them for a reason?

I have a 33x10.50 on a 15x7 wheel with 2.5" backspacing. Rubbing problem was fixed, but I should have gone alittle narrower because they stick out alittle too much and I had to put on fender flares to stop the mud slinging in the cab. I was originally going to go with a 9.5 wide tire, so it might have been perfect.

I had the same tires on 5.5" wide wheels for about a year...it was doable but they really rubbed.

The biggest advantage that maybe considered is the Dana 30 front axle. It's 3" wider and would help the rubbing issue.
And yes. Even with the Dana 30. The 33X12.5X15's tires still rub the YJ springs just before full steering lock.

I have the 215/85 16 and they rub preventing full turning. Not sure how much, but I've just learned not to turn too tight and if I feel the rub, I back off. The FSM says they can with 6.00 tires. Just how wide can you go before limiting your turning?
