Did you just need one other person to lift the tub onto your dolly? I’ve never seen word on just how heavy a bare tub is.
Otherwise, you’re doing great work...an inspiration to us all.

I’ve lifted it onto sawhorses with one helper. Had 2 helpers this time. It is a bit higher.

Thanks for the kind words. This is my first car project ever so totally learning as I go. Much thanks/credit to this site and YouTube!!

I have everything taped, cleaned and masked off. Humidity is in the mid 90s again. I may just let it sit until Sunday as a cold front is scheduled to go through.

What do y’all think, Spraying two part primer in garage with 95% humidity outside?

not a great idea the extra humidity will affect the cure.

Looks like you used the original bracket and not the one in Herm's kit? I have the same decision to make. I really don't want to drill more holes in the frame.

I really do think I used the Herm's bracket. This is one of the things I did over 10 years ago so I don't remember the details and the bracket may be made different now.

    It’s all one color!!

    Took almost the whole quart.

Has slight texture, almost orange peel.

I have to decide if I’m going to sand it or just paint. I guess I would need to buy more primer if I sanded any.

I think I’ll sand lightly with 400 then straight to paint.

Y’all think that will be OK?

The 400 hardly touched the texture without loading up quickly. I have a good size roll of 320 that is working well. Have everything except the tub sanded tonight. Busy weekend coming up maybe get to sanding more on Sunday.

are you sanding dry? if so break the surface with 320 then finish with 400 320 may leave sanding marks that will show through the finish, a contrasting colored guide coat will help with seeing the defects. what kind of topcoat are you using? if you break through the primer use a non sanding sealer to cover everything and make it all one color before paint.it will help with topcoat durability as well

Well weather was poor for paint the last couple weeks. Then this past Sunday I got sick for about a week.

Today It warmed to the mid 50s by noon and humidity was low. I swept out the garage and wiped stuff down. Got HF spray gun fired up and painted my first automobile!!

It went well for three coats. Then I was trying to get rid of the rest of the paint I had mixed and put it on a little to thick. Got 4 or 5 minor runs that I will need to fix (or not).

I still have to paint the dashboard, windshield frame, hinges, bolts etc.

Feels really good to have gotten this done. I might just be starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks, I do too. It’s like tan with a touch of yellow mustard.

What is the color? Is it a Prarie Gold or a custom color? Sorry if you already mentioned it but I didn’t see it.

Been a couple weeks but finally an update. Had some help lifting the tub onto the body a couple days ago. Started bolting it down but couldn’t get the center rear bolts with the rear tank in the way. So I dropped the tank, lifted the body up a bit and welded two bolts up through the crossmember.

I ran out of body mount rubber so I made a few. Y’all say the originals were made from tire sidewalls so I did that.

Next I bolted on the fenders and grill. No problems. Used some rope caulk to help keep fenders tight and keep rattling down.

Next I will need to figure out all the bolts and hinges and get them painted.

Hopefully I’ll have some more time this weekend.

You could also take a hole saw to the tread to utilize the whole tire. Looks good
