    Locally Tractor Supply has bolt spacers, and have not checked but would guess McMaster Carr has them also.

    This post is very interesting. I think the BOTTOM LINE is the transmission and transfer case need to be "reinforced" and all the methods here seem adequate. I'm in process of replacing my T86 and D18 on 1968 v6 22 odd fire and I'm going to use the original OEM TC cable stabilizer ( which I have), the TC Z plate bracket ( custom fab and fit), the transmission stabilizer stud ( modified bolt and bushing) and plate and skid plate spacers ( washers stuck together if spacers are not available) if I need them for clearance. These methods seem to be simple and easy to replicate with hardware parts. I'll be doing this over the next few weeks so I'll post some pictures.

    Well that's assuming his are proper, OEM spec. Now you need to crawl under there and corroborate Dan's findings. :p

    I had to do some research-- A Keps nut, (also called a k-lock nut or washer nut), is a nut with an attached, free-spinning washer.

    But which is the right way to put on a flat washer?
