It's definitely a twenty footer, but still looks decent when all shined up! :)

Blasted the valve cover with garnet sand and cleaned ready to be painted! After a little repair work on the bolt holes.

They are sickeningly clean. What's your secret? Wait, I know. Your Jeep is a mall crawler.

On the other hand, they must've been sealed really well.
Hope you share the rebuild and reassembly with us.

The input shaft seal was leaking a lot, so the inside of the bell housing was completely coated with gear lube and crap. The output seals on the transfer case I replaced a couple years ago, so no drips there.

I made a new floor pan out of 16g steel for the driver's side tub of my '68 cj5 project.

I welded it in place with a thousand dots.

I made a replacement hat-channel support out of rectangular steel.

I've nearly finished patching all the extra holes and much of the rust. The end is almost in sight.

    Here's what I started with:

Those hat channels look really good. I tried to make some on the brake, and they turned out OK, but they were not all uniform in size. I like the use of the rectangular steel. Good idea. I may try to use this idea. Looks good and is heavier than original. Good work.

    I went outside and STRIPPED!

In full view of the neighbors!

Stripped paint that is. Nobody put any money in my waistband.

Replaced the mufflers on the 61 CJ5. The dual exhaust was on it when purchased, but they were inexpensive mufflers. Bought the Summit brand fully welded turbo mufflers. Also changed oil and filter.

Yes, that large rusty area is my fuel tank. It was home-built out of 1/4 inch plate steel by the PO of the PO I bought the Jeep from!
Then, some day, I'll tackle making this look not so crappy....
    DSC02767d.JPG
Been rolling for some time with the frame hacked like that with no issues, but I'd like to strengthen it up as well as pretty it up!

Made a new tunnel cover, my old one was a hacked up mess. It’s almost a shame to put the carpet back in and cover it up.
