What brake parts are on the Jeep? You do know the parking brake is located on the back of the transfer case where the driveshft attaches? Do you still have the brake handle assembly under the left side of the dashboard?

Just throw the piƱata out the door like an anchor. :sneak:

I'm sure someone on here would sell you the whole unit a lot cheaper than that. Post a WTB ad in the classifieds.

Apparently the entire assembly was either removed or never had it to begin with

You can also convert to 11"x2" Bendix drum brakes. These came with a cable-operated parking brake on the rear wheels, which you can activate with a foot pedal or umbrella handle or floor lever, as you like. Lots of discussion of this in old posts here if you search.

Can you get us a pic of the rear of your transfer case?

I ordered a parking brake handle from DeBella's for my '70 cj5 (someone posted a link a few weeks ago). The transfer case has the brake assembly, but no handbrake on the dash. It's embarrassing to chock the wheel everywhere I go :madwife:

    The handbrake and cable arrived.

Where does it mount under the dash? There seems to be an appropriate hole on the lip under the dash and an associated hole in the firewall for the end of the tube (though, I have wires going through that hole right now).

I like the position of the brake there, but maybe it supposed to go somewhere else. Thoughts?

(That green sticker on the dash... The jeep leaks oil on the garage floor from the transfer case and/or transmission. I can't really tell because there's oil all over. I added some UV dye to the transfer case to see if I can trace where it's leaking from. I can't tell, the whole thing lights up under UV light. It leaks everywhere! The sticker is to remind me to check for leaks with the UV light)

Here's the end of the parking brake handle mechanism with the cable installed:

When the end of the cable slides into the parking brake tube, there's a slot for mechanical fastener to slide in the slot and lock the cable in place. What is that fastener called so I can look it up and buy one?

Also, does anybody have a picture of the bracket that supports the end of the parking brake cable? I don't appear to have a bracket:

Wow, that's out of my price range. You'd fabricate a clip out of Volvo's chrome bumper. I need to be like that.

If there is a support for the brake end of the cable - I am missing it. Mine is anchored to the bellhousing and then cross-member and using a cable clip (something like shown below) - you can route it up and out of the way pretty easily. The end of the cable connects to the middle hole on the brake arm coming out in front of the drum (the return spring is connected to the hole at the end).
