    Tag off one of the differential housing covers, held on by the cover bolts.
    Shows the gear ratio (4.27) and the tooth count on the gears. (47 & 11)
    Although most I've seen are curved to match the cover

    thanks! i did mallet it flat today to read the #s. this is the best forum ever! not only fast but just amazing info. this has been a 4 year project that was stifled by the floods in louisiana where it sat under carb for a week. taking to register it this week.

    The ratio tags held by 2 bolts are usually AMC era Jeeps, maybe from the early 1980's?
