What is this. V6 225 on the passenger side of the block, just above the starter there is a small bolt screwed into the block. Not a plug.

Me, I don't know V6. But it would be a great place to have a ground strap for the starter.

Thats a mounting point for the starter. I believe the original starter had a stud on top that bolted to a bracket bolted to the block

I'm getting ready to install a pintle hitch mount on the rear bumper of my '62 CJ5. While I had it on a lift the other day I noticed that a reinforcement V brace (or two struts forming a V) had been removed to accommodate the aux. tank - which I no longer have installed. I could see where the brace(s) had been and it seems like it would be necessary to have in place in order to tow anything heavier than a light trailer.
In looking at pictures, I don't think the part(s) I'm looking for are the same as the brace for the draw bar, as that appears to be beefier and located below this.
Is anyone familiar with this rear frame component?
I'm having a hard time finding a schematic that isolates this reinforcement, but I did find a couple of pics.

The V shaped part in the D section of this drawing:
    frame.JPG

I the section outlined in red may be half of the brace. This is a '60 Jeep with what I believe to be a factory draw bar (the beefier lower brace).

You are correct - the v-braces shown in section D are usually cut-out to install a rear tank (I did it on mine). The draw bar itself also has 'straps' (metal strips) that go to the frame cross-member that the v-braces go to as well. See if I can find a pic...

The '70-up Jeeps were also missing that brace, but they still accommodated a pintle hook. There is an upper brace that attaches to the floor pan.

You could copy this if you want to keep your pintle hook and rear gas tank. You'll need the "type 1" draw bar as shown here.

Here is the traditional drawbar with the 'straps' found on cjs up until the tank was moved to the rear. As Tim's diagram shows, the straps were then moved to the side of the drawbar to go around the sides of the tank and the diagonal v-brace was removed and replaced with the reinforcement Tim shows.

So like James, the p.o. cut the V reinforcement similar to the one pictured in Tonka's second pic. so that he could fit the aux. tank.

I'm hoping to replace the ball hitch bracket with the pintle mount without having to add a draw bar. My concern is that with the V brace have been removed, there's no frame reinforcement at the hitch mounting point. I'm not seeing any kind of reinforcements like in Tim's diagram. From what I can see, all the towing stress would therefore be put solely on the rear bumper. I had initially thought that the V brace was a bolt-on part, but it now looks to me (thanks to your pics) like it was integral to the rear frame section.

Any thoughts as to what I could do aside from installing a draw bar and its hardware/brackets?

Actually, the stock rear frame is set up for a pintle hitch, but this requires the V shaped upper brace. The upper bolts of a pintle hitch mount through the V brace, and the lower pintle hitch bolts mount through the rear crossmember ( what you are calling the bumper). There should be a nearly square tie plate (11.066-13 in the diagram in post 649) that reinforces the mounting. This tie plate is also used with the drawbar hitch.
I would recommend replacing the V brace on your frame as it ties the hitch pulling forces forward on the frame, and makes half the mount for the pintle hitch. The V brace is an integral part of the original frame.

Hi. Does anyone knows what is this on my water pump? The FSM indicates that the coolant temp sensor is on the block. The PO had some type of sending unit but I don't know what was it. Most of the gauges were not working. And, should I rebuild the pump or get a new one? Thanks! IMG_20181015_140909973-816x459.jpg IMG_20181015_140916539-816x459.jpg

Looks like a temp sensor to me. Is there an aftermarket electric fan installed at your radiator? Maybe this was a secondary temp. sensor for the fan relay....

That's what I thought too, but there is nothing else out of the ordinary at least noticeable. Regular rad and fan blades.
