I've had two recap tires go bad. The first lost a chunk of tread about the size of my hand. The second, I was going down I-10 and the whole cap started coming off and beating around in the rear fenderwell of my pickup. Ate that side of the bed up before I could get pulled over to the side of the road. I'm not a fan of retreads.

As for 235/75R-15s, I've run cheap Walmart "Liberator" all terrains in that size on a CJ5 and on a Bronco II (no lift on either) and never had a problem with them. I don't rock crawl, but they went through the woods, mud, deep sand, through creeks and up and down hills (wooded) with no problems. Just went wherever I got the notion to go. For a light stock height 4x4, it's a pretty nice sized tire.

In our area all of the re capers are out of business. The was a shop that had snow tire tread very similar to a Firestone Town and Country
