I'm picking this up Thursday. I haven't seen it in person, but it's free and I'm told it works so I really don't care. :)

I should probably go to jail...I stole this lathe.

I picked the lathe up last night (we couldn't get together last week). My co-worker is around 35 years old, he inherited the lathe 20 years ago from an old machinist. He has never tried to use it...It's been sitting unused and neglected. He just discovered yesterday that it was a South Bend.

    Model: C9-10JR
    Cat. No - 41530
    Bed Length - 3-1/2
    Chart No. 7

Some of the tooling and dies were wrapped in newspapers from 1987.

Focker, you got a great deal on that whole setup!!(y)
The only thing I see missing is the threading dial for thread cutting. I would also replace that belt with a solid serpentine.

If you would, could you take a photo of the M.E lathe manual and the lathe accessory books index pages. I might want to buy these books off of Amazon if they have some projects or such that I am interested in. Anything you can tell me about these books would be great!!

What are the backlash's like? Worn x-feeds are a common issue on these.
