I am new to the world of CJ's I just found a 1969 CJ5 and its in pretty good shape paid 3k for it. I am looking for a Hard top for it . the soft top is a little chilly. I found a guy that has a Hard top off of a 1954 CJ-3 jeep will this fit a 1969 CJ5?

Thanks for any help or info you can offer.

No. CJ-3 (be it CJ-3A or CJ-3B) is different.

Lot of discussion of this topic in old posts if you search.

Generally speaking if you are looking at the top from above, if it is square it is for a 5 and if it is narrower in the front then the rear by about 6 inches it is for a flatty.

This may not be what you want to hear, but in my experience, a well-fitting soft-top is actually a hair warmer than a cold steel hard-top. Think about possibly filling any holes or gaps and adding a second heater (unless your soft-top is in poor shape?).

I've been mulling this over also - soft top vs. hard top. Rally tops makes a nice hard top and doors.

Nice thing about the hard top is the added security when it is parked.

    welcome from France.
i have a steel hard top but this is very heavy and you cannot move it easily.
this winter i decided to keep the soft one and not use the jeep too much
it is nice because all is well closed doors and windows qre working well.
    if you buy one i
take care of the rust. it stays inside the metal sheets and you must look attentively inside. paint can hide the rust but don t buy if rusted.
if not rusted buy, check very carefully.
and of course a good canvas top can be enough but with all parts and doors well closing. an investment. i prefer the bikini and drive in summer.:sneak::p:lol:

You can buy the keyed type, they are a pretty standard item.

I want to thank all of you for the Info and reply's. It is nice to have some place to go to get info when you need it. This is my first jeep and it is going well. My soft top is in pretty good shape but it is drafty to run with on the freeway that is why I was looking into a hard top. I drive this to and from work have about a 10 mile stretch on the freeway. I just rebuilt the 134 f that is in it and it will now top out at 62 I am happy with it.:)
