Not in this case, but I have indeed used hundreds of bags of pre-mix, restoring my two hydro dams nearby. Every village needs an idiot.

In this case it was poured, with a 100-foot boom/pumper needed to reach the far bank. I designed the abutments and built the custom forms, then re-purposed the forms as pre-fab walls to build an addition on the house, for my daughter's room. :D

Do concrete forms count as "special tools"?

Big f-ing crane - all in one 80 ft. piece.
To reconstruct it piecemeal would have involved building too much staging and 'falsework' in the river.

There are good reasons most individuals don't buy bridges. Trust me, I learned all of them.

We need to get back on topic.

Here is a special Jeep tool I made in a hurry one day.
It gets that pesky carb base nut next to the rocker cover, on an F-head.

    Who's next?

^^ Good one. I've cursed at that stupid bolt enough that I'd let that tool sleep on my pillow too!

This isn't a "special tool", but helpful nonetheless. The best improvement you can make to the el-cheapo HF yellow work gloves:

Hey, I got one just like that, only it has a grade 8 bolt. I've also got a '76 Bonnie.

Here's a tool I built to handle 8x8 timbers up to 24 feet long by myself.
Pictures taken today. The ice tongs are handy too.

That is cool! How often do you have to handle timbers like that?

Regularly. Timber framing is a primary income occupation for me, although I do a lot of other stuff too.

20160610_155941.jpg 20160610_160105.jpg I made a stand several years ago for rebuilding early CJ axles. The axle mounts to the stand like it would to leaf springs, and can be pivoted up or down to make gear work easier.

Seems like you would have to do a lot of axles to need to make a stand. Normally I just use jack stands. But that is a very impressive axle stand.

You only have to do one set on jack stands to wish you had a stand like that!

Loving that stand. Makes me want to start rebuilding an axle, even if I don't need to.

I rebuilt one set of axles on the stand and plan to rebuild one more set. I used scrap materials to make it so I only have my time invested in it. It does make the job a lot easier. :D
