Not sure if this is a price goof or what, but Amazon has what seems to be the right starter for the Dauntless V6 (according to a P/N I got from RockAuto) listed at ~$45, and then also offering the $25 core refund from AC Delco. That seems to bring the total price down to $20. Actually it was $43 the other day when I ordered mine, and got it in the mail already. The price has been fluctuating back and forth between this low price and something closer to $70, so I'm not sure if they can't figure out how to not sell a starter for < $20 or what the problem is. All I know is, I'll take my $18 starter any day. Might even just keep my old core and see if I can rebuild it myself to have a spare around, considering I've seen it quoted at $50 to get your own starter rebuilt. I just thought anyone with a V6 and an old starter might like hearing about this really cheap offer/glitch on Amazon.

Well Your drive end housing is the main thing you need to keep. All the rest of that starter is the same as chevrolet, pontiac, Olds, and a host of others. Millions of em out there.

Good to know. Got around to working on the Jeep again. Starter was working in the warmer weather, so wondered if it was indeed my battery or not. Got through a compression test and part way into a leakdown test on the bad cylinders when the starter started failing on me again. Tapping it with the rubber mallet got it going, so I guess I'm going to be replacing that starter after all. After I get my core back, I think I'll be happy with my $18 Delco rebuild, if it works.

I've probably said it before but the 230 and 250 Chevy starter is the same one the V6 Jeep uses, same part number.
