I have just about restored my 75 CJ5, 258 in-line 6 cyc but now I need a restoration replacement for the modified Holley 4 barrel carburetor on there now back to the stock 1 barrel YF carburetor.
I'm needing to buy and install the proper manifold, too.
I need help in identifying both the proper carb and manifold.
I would really appreciate any help in locating both parts anybody could provide.
    Thanks!

Was this Jeep originally delivered in California? If so, do you want to put the emissions controls back the way they were from the factory?

? Wouldn't a four barrel be too much carb for the 258? I've got a Carter YF on my 300-6 in 'Easy Bake', my black Ford panel van stock and it runs fine.

And once you identify what you need I'd suggest putting a WTB post in the Classifieds section.

I need to know that to tell you what parts and part numbers you need. The carburetor and manifolds are different depending on where the Jeep was delivered.

Yes, it's way to much. Fuel just floods out the engine. I need to find an expert opinion on returning this back to stock carb with matching manifold.

I don't think it was a California Jeep.

Thanks for the help. It was not a California Jeep. Although it did have the holder for the charcoal filter canister.

I'm at work and don't have the '75 manual here. If you look at the emissions chapter in the last few pages is a table that shows which devices were used on each model. As I recall, the California CJ uses both EGR exhaust gas recirculation and Air Guard (air injection). When equipped with these systems, a different exhaust manifold is required. There is also a different carburetor for California rather than NW nation wide. Not sure about vapor recovery (charcoal canister), but if it was there, I would put it back. It has zero impact on performance, requires negligible maintenance, and vents your gas tank and carb float bowl properly. Without it, your Jeep could stink like gas when parked overnight in your garage, for example. No stink with vapor recovery.

I'll get you the numbers for the NW model when I get home. It will be a Carter YFA carburetor, an iron 1V intake manifold, and a matching iron exhaust manifold with no EGR or Air Guard ports.

I have the original manual in front of me. I'm looking at the tables you're referring to. And the jeep does stink like gas when parked overnight in the garage. Wow. I'd like to purchase what ever parts I need to get this going, as the carburetor, manifold parts and now I need to find the charcoal canister, holder and tubing. I really appreciate your help in parts identification, as much as you can. I work together with a capable 21 year old friend of our family, my 2 sons, and myself on this.

    Thanks again.

    Here's a start -
Carter YF-7040 Carburetor, Jeep PN 3224859
Intake manifold (80-LEGR) Jeep PN 8125466
    Exhaust Manifold, Jeep PN 8125466

I expect the only one of these or the vapor recovery parts you will find as new aftermarket will be the exhaust manifold.

Those YF's are really straightforward carbs, easy to maintain and rebuild (when nessesary)
